Rondleiding door de zoutpannen van Trapani en het Zoutmuseum
Beschrijving
De rondleiding door de zoutpannen en het zoutmuseum is iets unieks in de provincie Trapani. Het is een "verplichte" stop, of u nu op vakantie bent in de omgeving of een dag midden in de natuur wilt doorbrengen, de zee wilt aanraken en ondergedompeld wilt worden in de geschiedenis van zout. Aan het einde van de rondleiding is het ook mogelijk om een aperitief te nuttigen met een adembenemend uitzicht en/of te dineren in het restaurant.

In het eerste deel van de tour krijgt u de gelegenheid om een ontspannende wandeling te maken en de oneindige wittinten te ontdekken die het zout kenmerken, om nog maar te zwijgen van het blauw van de zee, de grijze klei en het roze van de tanks. Deze route volgt de omtrek van de zoutpan tot aan de oevers van de zoutpannen waar het water als spiegel naar de hemel fungeert. Door middel van deze tour bieden de zoutpannen van Culcasi een ervaring die geschikt is voor alle leeftijdsgroepen binnen het WWF-reservaat, tussen beschermde planten en vogels, zodat je het zout dat zich vormt in de tanks kunt zien door het met je handen op te vangen en stap voor stap de hele proces dat zeewater omzet in zout dat iedereen kent.
Het tweede deel van de tour concentreert zich op de rondleiding door het zoutmuseum en de oude molen uit de 14e eeuw, waar je echt betrokken kunt raken bij de geschiedenis van zout, niet alleen het vermoeiende werk van de zoutpan, maar vooral, de geschiedenis van de familie die het al generaties lang runt. Het museum is gevestigd in een oude baglio en is opgenomen in de officiële gids van de Europese Unie. Het is een sterk getuigenis van de unie die zout en zee altijd met elkaar heeft verbonden.

This was a nice and relaxing tour, a 40 minute drive from Marsala with a lot of history, hands on experiences and tastings. We arrived early and were accommodated to start the tour inside the museum instead of outside. A member of our group wasn’t feeling well and Agnes offered something to eat to help. The museum tour was very informative with pictures, tools and equipment used back in the day. Explanations of the process were explained thoroughly. Once completed, the tour continued outside near the different salt pans. An enclosed room outside “salt lab” allowed for touching and sampling the salt and body scrub products. Afterwards, you take an approximate 20 minute walk around the salt pans where information that was previously explained is shown in person. At the end of the tour, you’re able to stop at the restaurant on site and have a nice lunch with beautiful views. Highly recommended with highly knowledgeable staff.

A nice interesting different experience. Out of the way and off the beaten path but educational and a nice experience to see where my salt can come from. Also maybe a jar or 2 found there way into a suit case!!
