Mijn naam is Diego. Ik heb een bachelordiploma in toerisme en een masterdiploma in sociale studies van de Universiteit van Guadalajara. Ik heb deze ervaring gecreëerd om reizigers kennis te laten maken met Guadalajara, de stad waar ik ben geboren en getogen. Meer dan een gewone rondleiding wil ik je een doordachte tocht door de stad bieden, met de nadruk op geschiedenis, architectuur en sociaal-politieke stromingen. Tijdens een leuke en langzame wandeling van 3 uur zie je meer dan 10 van de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden van Guadalajara, waaronder: de kathedraal, het stadsplein en de belangrijkste pleinen en overheidsgebouwen, templo Expiatorio, Mercado Libertad (de grootste overdekte markt in het Latijn Amerika), Colonia Americana, Hospicio Cabañas, Degollado Theater en meer! Stap terug in de tijd naar Colonia Americana, Guadalajara's eerste moderne wijk gebouwd in de vroege jaren 1900 door rijke Mexicaanse, Europese en Amerikaanse industriëlen. Bewonder de prachtig bewaard gebleven eclectische en regionalistische architectuur langs de lommerrijke straten. Deze buurt is omgetoverd tot de hipste hangplek van de stad, vol jonge energie. Hier vindt u een levendige scène van kunstgaleries, restaurants en stijlvolle coffeeshops en bars.
Deze prachtige neogotische katholieke kerk biedt een kijkje in de rijke geschiedenis van de stad, inclusief de religieuze conflicten gevormd door de culturele en economische invloed van de VS in Mexico. Tijdens onze tour zal ik ingaan op deze fascinerende details.
Dit opmerkelijke modernistische park, ontworpen door Luis Barragán, Mexico’s meest gerenommeerde architect, werd onlangs gerenoveerd voorafgaand aan het WK 2026. Tegenwoordig is het zowel een populaire verzamelplaats voor de lokale bevolking als een van de belangrijkste vervoersknooppunten van de stad, die meerdere bus- en metroroutes met elkaar verbindt.
Dit voormalige karmelietenklooster, gebouwd in de jaren 1700 en nu omgevormd tot een openbaar plein, biedt een uniek perspectief op het complexe proces van scheiding van kerk en staat in Mexico, dat begon in 1857. Uw lokale Gids brengt dit cruciale hoofdstuk van de geschiedenis van het land tot leven.
Stap in de grandeur van de 16e-eeuwse Renaissancekathedraal, een adembenemend bewijs van de rijke geschiedenis van de regio. Interactie met vriendelijke verkopers en ervaar de authentieke sfeer van deze iconische markt.
Dompel jezelf onder in geschiedenis en kunst in Guadalajara 's prachtige Hospicio Cabañas! (Op maandag gesloten). Verken dit UNESCO Werelderfgoed en bewonder een verbazingwekkende set van 57 muurschilderingen van Jose Clemente Orozco, een van de drie grootste muurschilderingen van Mexico. Ontrafel de verhalen achter het architectonische wonder en duik in de krachtige muurschilderingen. Deze UNESCO-site heeft strenge regels met betrekking tot externe gidsen, maar voel je vrij om het museum in je eigen tempo te verkennen. Ik zal inzichten geven om uw begrip van het museum en de kunst van Orozco te vergroten.

Our guide, Diego, was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Guadalajara. We learned a lot and it was a good introduction to the city on the first day of our vacation. His English is excellent and he was very comfortable to walk with.

What a wonderful tour! My family and I enjoyed exploring Guadalajara with Diego. He’s a fantastic tour guide with a clear love for his hometown. He did a great job sharing its history and culture in a way that was engaging for my husband and I as well as our teenage sons. We upgraded to include sampling street food and highly recommend that as well.

This was the perfect introduction to the complex city that is Guadalajara. Diego spoke perfect English, and was very knowledgeable about the local architecture, history, political influence, and a host of other topics! Often as a Westerner guided tours end up feeling like a set-up where the guide takes you to this vendor and that vendor, completely losing focus on the sites. Diego did none of that, he showed me places and opportunities but there was never a hint of pressure. That casual vibe earned him a great tip! This tour is well worth the price - I could not recommend it more!

We only had a couple of days in Guadalajara and wanted to get to know the city. The tour was the perfect amount of introductory information to the city. I liked that it was early during the day to avoid the worst of the heat. Diego went at a casual pace and stopped when we needed and let us know places to use the bathroom along the way, which we ended up needing. I really liked the architectural history of the city and the explanation of the neighborhoods. It was such a pleasant walk, it didn’t feel like four hours. Along the way, Diego took some very nice pictures of us. We ended the tour at the market, where we found the jerseys we had been looking for! Looking back, I wished I would have asked more about the mariachi history, but there was a lot of information given regardless. Even after the tour, Diego was helpful when I had a question on where to try to find some spots to try tequila. I definitely recommend this tour if you’ve never been to Guadalajara.

Diego was an amazing tour guide! It's clear he loves his city and really knows it. It felt like we really got to experience Guadalajara, beyond the touristy areas. He gave us time to ask plenty of questions and let us stop at the stores we were interested in seeing. I thought the pacing was great too. Fortunately, we don't have mobility issues, but Diego still checked in with us to make sure we were comfortable. The food was AMAZING (we'll never be able to have birria again back home because it just can't compare), and we learned so much. He also went above and beyond to send us plenty of recommendations after the tour. A tour with Diego is a must if you're visiting Guadalajara!!

Diego was wonderful - incredibly knowledgeable about history, architecture and current events. We had coffee, ate delicious local food I would not have found on my own, saw churches & libraries & parks - an amazing mix of modern and historical from a local guide who has lived all over the world and can represent this city with all the uniqueness it has to offer. Such an amazing tour and incredible way to explore the city! I loved that we started early with tacos breakfast at the iconic market San Juan de Dios surrounded by stunning tabachín trees. The market barely started to come to life and the crowd hadn't arrived yet. We then went on a long walking tour across the city learning a lot about History, people, culture, architecture. It was fantastic!
