Deze Grand Golden Circle-tour brengt u naar de populairste bezienswaardigheden waar u kunt genieten van de drie hoogtepunten van het zuidwesten van IJsland: Geysir, Gulfoss-waterval en Þingvellir National Park. Bovendien brengt u een bezoek aan het vulkanische kratermeer Kerið.

Golden Circle is de populairste dagtourroute vanuit Reykjavik. De route doorkruist spectaculaire landschappen en omvat drie iconische bestemmingen van IJsland: het geothermische gebied Geysir, de Gullfoss-waterval en het nationale park Thingvellir.
Strokkur is het broertje of de beroemde Geysir die niet meer actief is. Strokkur is echter nog steeds zeer actief en blaast elke 7 tot 10 minuten water de lucht in. We stoppen meestal voor de lunch bij Geysir voor ongeveer 40 minuten Bij deze halte kun je ook eten kopen.
Gullfoss is een waterval van de witte rivier Hvítá. De waterval bestaat uit twee delen van respectievelijk 11 en 21 meter, waar het water met 100 m3 per seconde naar beneden raast.
De Thingvellir zijn zowel in historisch al in geologisch opzicht een belangrijke locatie. Hier werd het eerste parlement van IJsland gesticht in het jaar 930. Hier komen de Noord-Amerikaanse en Euraziatische tektonische platen samen.
Kerið is een iconische vulkanische krater met een diepte van 55 meter.

It’s advertised as introductory and it is. Staff are all friendly and helpful but the amount of time in most locations is too short - especially at the waterfall. If you are active and quick, it’s okay but those a little slower may not see as much
Vjeran is the best guide, absolutely the best. I can most definitely say I’ve never had a more educated, phenomenal tour guide. He is plentiful with knowledge about the country and knows every place to go.

The operator BusTravel Iceland did not come to pick us up at the port. So, no crater for us. After numerous communications with the operator and a 90-minute wait, they finally agreed to let us do the basic Golden Circle (without the crater). Result: we missed Kerid, which is what we had paid for. No one wants to compensate us, neither BusTravel Iceland nor Viator. Viator washes its hands of it by mentioning that the operator does not want to compensate.
Bus Travel Iceland were great, I was joining the tour from a cruise, but was greatly delayed disembarking. Panicking that I would miss my pickup I messaged and they changed my pickup to the port. My luggage was able to go underneath the coach, so it was perfect and communication was great. The tour itself was just spectacular. Marvin our guide was very informative and always open to questions. We visited three spots, the Almannagjá Gorge, where the tectonic plates meet, the Getser Centre and the Golden Waterfall. All in it took 71/2 hours. Take snacks and water. There are toilets at each of the stops and also a chance to have lunch.
Excellent tour. Our tour guide Andrea was brilliant and very informative She also has a beautiful singing voice. Only problem was the air con didn't work on the bus, but this didn't spoil our day out. Would thoroughly recommend.
