Een kleine groepsreis met een lokaal en persoonlijk tintje. Waarschijnlijk de beroemdste tour van IJsland, de Golden Circle is de perfecte mix van menselijke en natuurlijke geschiedenis. We bezoeken Thingvellir National Park, Geysir, Gullfoss, Friðheimar broeikasgassen en de Secret Lagoon. De Golden Circle is een must voor iedereen die IJsland echt wil ervaren, en de Scret Lagoon is de perfecte manier om te ontspannen en te genieten van IJsland. Een zeer unieke lunchervaring in de kas van Friðheimar, lunch is inbegrepen.

Thingvellir wordt gekenmerkt door een tektonische kloofvallei en markeert het uiteenvallen van de Euraziatische en Noord-Amerikaanse platen. In 930 werd in Thingvellir het IJslandse parlement, de eerste democratie ter wereld, opgericht. Thingvellir werd in 2004 UNESCO-werelderfgoed. We lopen naar de Öxarárfoss-waterval.
Wist je dat de Engelse naam “geiser” is afgeleid van de enige echte in het Haukadalur-gebied in IJsland? De geiser Geysir zelf spuit kokend water tot 70 meter hoogte, maar is vrijwel inactief. Strokkur, slechts enkele meters verwijderd van de geiser, barst gemiddeld elke 4 minuten uit. Faxi is een nabijgelegen waterval en daar stoppen we.
Bij Geysir ligt de prachtige Gullfoss-waterval. Geniet van het uitzicht van bovenaf en loop het pad af om in de buurt van de krachtige waterval te komen.
In de Friðheimar-kas worden tomaten geteeld met behulp van geothermische warmte en geothermisch opgewekte elektriciteit. Met een tropisch klimaat binnen hebben ze een restaurant geopend, precies daar in het tomatenveld. De belangrijkste ingrediënten op hun menu zijn uiteraard de daar geteelde tomaten. Dit is een zeer zeldzame en unieke lunchervaring.
Ontspan en ontspan in het oude plaatselijke zwembad in Flúðir, ook wel de geheime lagune genoemd.

We had an awesome tour guide for three days and were able to see so much in a short time! This was a private small group tour 7 to 11 people. Our guide Addie was very professional, personable and knowledgeable of Icelandic history and the sites we visited! She was flexible if we needed to spend a bit more time in some places. Guides provide and reinforce safety information to visitors. It's nice to ride and enjoy the scenery a d not have to focus on driving. She had great stories too!! We booked a private tour with the Family and it was a wonderful experience. This is the second time we booked our vacation with this company and the experience was amazing as always. Hopefully next visit we will pick more places to visit and see in Iceland

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and even looked like a Viking! The landscape was spectacular. The geyser did not reach any kind of height, just sort of bubbled and steam blew out, but that is no fault of the tour company. I was with a group of 8 friends, we decided that we did not want to get off at the secret lagoon but wanted to continue on with the rest of the tour and our guide accommodated us.
