Þingvellir National Park – Een UNESCO Werelderfgoed waar u kunt wandelen tussen twee continenten! Verken dramatische landschappen gevormd door de verschuivende tektonische platen van Noord-Amerika en Eurazië. Dit is ook de historische plek van het eerste parlement van IJsland, opgericht in 930 na Christus. We genieten van een gemakkelijke en schilderachtige wandeling door de kloofvallei, omgeven door prachtige natuur en fascinerende geschiedenis.
Geysir Geothermische Gebied – We zullen ongeveer een uur besteden aan het verkennen van dit ongelooflijke geothermische veld, de thuisbasis van borrelende warmwaterbronnen, dampende ventilatieopeningen en de beroemde Strokkur geiser, die elke paar minuten indrukwekkend uitbarst. Je hebt de tijd om door de omgeving te wandelen, het natuurschoon te bewonderen en geweldige foto's te maken. We zullen ook genieten van onze lunch hier in een nabijgelegen restaurant met uitzicht op het geothermische landschap.
Gullfoss Waterval – Bekend als de “Gouden Waterval”, is Gullfoss een van IJslands meest iconische natuurwonderen. U zult getuige zijn van de krachtige tweetraps waterval die in een diepe canyon duikt, waardoor mistige regenbogen ontstaan op zonnige dagen. We maken een wandeling langs de uitkijkpaden om de waterval van dichtbij te ervaren vanuit verschillende hoeken, en je hebt genoeg tijd voor foto’s en om te genieten van het adembenemende uitzicht.
Kerid Crater – Een opvallend vulkanisch kratermeer met levendige rode en zwarte hellingen rondom een diepblauw zwembad op de bodem. We maken een korte wandeling rond de rand, met geweldige uitzichten en fotomogelijkheden. Je kunt ook naar beneden lopen naar het waterniveau om de rustige sfeer te ervaren vanuit de krater. Het is een perfecte mix van geologie en schoonheid – een waar hoogtepunt van de Golden Circle.

A great way to visit each of the top sites along the Golden Circle. Our driver picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off at each site, allowing us as much time as we wanted to enjoy each location. This was not a guided tour, but our driver, Valinca, had been to each location and was able to recommend the best way for us to spend our time at each site. We had an enjoyable time throughout the day and Valinca could not have been more helpful. He was also pleasant to visit with and helped make our day a great one!

Sayer was fabulous and very professional . He picked us up at our cruise port in Iceland in a nice size clean van, and was 15 minutes early. He was waiting on us when we departed the terminal, help with our luggage, and very polite. He explained our itinerary for the day and showed us all the high points of Iceland. At the end of our tour, he delivered us to our hotel. I highly recommend Sayer.

Taking a private tour was the way to go. See the beautiful sites without the rush or waiting for 40 people to get off the bus!!! The Golden Circle is a must see.

Our driver was very friendly, very accomodating and we felt safe with his driving. However, we certainly didn't get any knowledge of Iceland from him, we may as well have just booked a taxi to take us arouind. A friend went on one recently and also go a guide in with their tour, they learned all sorts. We thought that is what we were getting but sadly that was not the case.

The Golden Circle is a wonderful way to see a good portion of Iceland. We liked having a private tour person so we could be on our own schedule. Unfortunately, our guide, although a nice guy, was unable to provide any information about anything we were taken to or even whilst we had lengthy times in the car. We had to even ask where we were going next and how long would it take. He just dropped us off. No information about Iceland or the places we were visiting was offered. It was nearly $1,000 US $ and much too expensive to have a guide with no knowledge of what we were seeing. Disappointing to say the least. If you can get a guide who is from Iceland who knows the area instead of a person who is not from Iceland, you will have a better experience than us.
