De Gouden Cirkel is de populairste dagtour vanuit Reykjavik. Deze tour combineert historische en geologische vindplaatsen en wordt aanbevolen voor een eerste kennismaking met het land. Tijdens de reis bezoeken we het Thingvellir Nationaal Park, de geothermisch actieve Haukadalur-vallei met de geisers Geysir en Strokkur, en een van de symbolen van IJsland – de Gullfoss-waterval. Andere bezienswaardigheden onderweg zijn de tomatenkas van Fridheimar en de Kerid-krater.

Thingvellir National Park staat bekend om zowel historische als geologische monumenten. Aan de ene kant is dit waar de Amerikaanse en Euraziatische tektonische platen zich scheiden. Aan de andere kant is het een symbolisch belangrijke plaats in de geschiedenis van de IJslandse natie, de plaats waar een nationale vergadering werd gevormd sinds de tijd van de eerste kolonisten tijdens de Vikingtijd.
Tijdens deze stop lopen we door de kleine geothermische vallei van Haukadalur, beroemd om zijn warmwaterbronnen Geysir en Strokkur. Hoewel Geysir tegenwoordig inactief is, barst Strokkur, de grootste actieve geiser van het land, elke 5 tot 10 minuten uit op een hoogte van 20 tot 35 meter (60 tot 100 voet).
Gullfoss is de op een na grootste en een van de beroemdste watervallen van IJsland; het bestaat uit twee stappen. De hoogte van de eerste cascade is 11 meter (33 voet), en de tweede is 21 meter (65 voet). De wanden van de kloof waarin de waterval stroomt, bereiken een hoogte van maximaal 70 meter (230 voet). Geologen denken dat de kloof is ontstaan als gevolg van gletsjeruitbarstingen aan het einde van de laatste ijstijd.
Frideimar Tomatenkas, de beroemdste kas van IJsland, dankzij een klein restaurant in de kas en tomatengerechten. Beleef een bijzondere ervaring door de kas te bezoeken en de lokale tomatensoep te proeven met vers gebakken brood geserveerd met komkommersalsa.
Kerid is een compacte krater met een klein meer op de bodem, gevormd na een uitbarsting ongeveer zesduizend jaar geleden. De krater is 55 meter diep en heeft een ovale caldera die deel uitmaakt van de belangrijkere Tjarnarhólar-breuk, inclusief verschillende kraters en heuvels. We kunnen rond de krater lopen of naar het meer onderaan.

Our guide was amazing and made our day enjoyable and we ended our day with so much information about Iceland. We were picked up at our hotel with a clean, Mercedes sprinter van. Our guide navigated our day so we could have plenty of time to see the sights and stop at the tomato farm for lunch. I highly recommend this private tour.

Spent a very enjoyable day doing this tour. Sergei was our guide and picked us up promptly from our hotel. Really enjoyed all the sights and had a nice lunch at the tomato greenhouse. We also stopped for an ice cream from a nearby farm. Sergie was very information, took lots of photos for us and helped over uneven ground. Definitely recommend this tour and Sergei. You definitely get value for money.

100% worth the money! In fact, we loved this tour and Sergei (our tour guide and owner of Top Iceland Tours) so much that we booked another full day tour to the South of the Island as well! We travelled in complete luxury in a Mercedes Viano. Lots of space and comfort in between visits. Sergei has a warm and friendly manner, sharing a wealth of knowledge about Iceland, the sights we saw and the history of the country. Both tours were well thought out in terms of time (both travelling and time spent at each activity), daylight hours and making the most of the day. The views were incredible. Seeing the geysers explode was fantastic. The waterfalls were impressive and being surrounded by snow made them even more wonderful.

This tour was absolutely amazing. Even better with Sergei as our tour guide. He is the most kind gentleman with a lot of knowledge about Iceland. From the past, present, and future, his knowledge of Iceland is vast. There was 5 of us total in our group. He took us to the most famous places that make up the Golden Circle all while talking about its deep history of the land. Just taking in the landscape of the beautiful country was breathtaking. We also added on the Blue Lagoon to the end of our trip, which was actually so much better because it was less crowded by the time we got there. Also, it was dark out, so it made it more fun for us because we were able to see all the stars in the sky. Very worth it. Any questions we had, Sergei had an answer. He also took great groups photos of us. He went above and beyond, I really recommend booking this if you have a group of 6 or less. It's so much more personable and private.

We are a family with two kids aged 11 and 14. We had a private day tour to the Golden Circle and a 2 day private tour to the Sauth Coast and Glacier Lagoon. Everything was just perfect and professionally planned by our guide, Sergei, keeping at the same time the spirit of adventure. Sergei made us learn a lot about Iceland and appreciate each site even more. We discovered canyons, waterfalls, hotsprings, glaciers, lagoons and the coast. Eventually we even saw the Nothern lights! We had three excellent day tours with Sergei, owner of Top Iceland Tours. Tours were Golden Circle, Southeast Coast and Snæfellsnes Peninsula. He was timely and informative and went out of his way to make sure we saw all the sights, both well-known and not-so-well-known, on our tours. He knew the precise spots for good photos and frequently offered to serve as the photographer for pictures of my wife and me. The tours are not inexpensive, with just two people, but we are glad we had the guiding services of Sergei to navigate the highways as well as his expertise and knowledge about the sights we were seeing. He clearly knows how to offer tours that are comprehensive and handled them with dispatch. Highly recommend.
