Na de lunchpauze gaan we naar de Kerið-krater, een uitgestorven vulkaan die 6000 duizend jaar geleden uitbarstte en door zijn explosie op zichzelf instortte, waardoor een krater ontstond die zich later met grondwater vulde. De grond in het gebied is rijk aan ijzer, dus de kleuren eromheen creëren spectaculaire lagen. Geschatte reistijd 1:30 uur
Friðheimar is een ongelooflijke plek die je niet mag missen tijdens een bezoek aan IJsland. Het is erg populair, dus vooraf reserveren is nodig, maar maak je geen zorgen als je geen boeking hebt. je kunt altijd de heerlijke tomatensoep bezoeken en eten of een tomatenbloedige mary of tomatenbier laten maken met de verse tomaten uit de Friðheimar-kas. I booked this private tour through TripAdvisor 4 weeks in advance and repeatedly tried to confirm details through the platform with no response. I eventually had to track down the guide on Facebook/WhatsApp, where she confirmed our date, pickup time, and group size multiple times. On the morning of our tour – which was also our last day in Iceland – she canceled just 2.5 hours before departure, at 4:45 am. Not only did this mean we lost our only chance to see the sights we had carefully planned, but we were also left scrambling for transportation to the airport. The lack of professionalism and reliability caused us stress, extra expense, and the loss of an experience we will never get back. I strongly advise future travelers to book with someone dependable. Reliability and communication are essential in a tour operator, especially when it involves airport transfers and a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control, I had to cancel at very short notice. My husband and I totally enjoyed our tours with Elisabete. We actually booked her 3 times while we were there. She’s that good! We booked a transfer from the airport to our hotel, the private Reykjanes peninsula tour, and the Golden Circle tour. So much better than the big bus tours and more flexible. Highly recommend!

Iceland in the winter can be a challenging place. Elisabete always had our safety in mind as we visited various natural wonders. For example, she made sure each of us had crampons whenever we would be on icy terrain. She is also an excellent driver on ice and snow.
