Een begraven dorp De lokale bevolking zegt dat dit dorp voor het laatst werd bewoond door de mensen van de Al Kutbi-stam. De huizen die je hier ziet, dateren uit de jaren 80. Nu is het hele dorp inclusief huizen, moskeeën en voertuigen bedekt met zand, vandaar de naam ‘Buried Village’. Welnu, je kunt zeggen dat zand en extreme natuurkrachten dit dorp zijn binnengevallen.

WAT TE ZIEN BIJ AL MADAM GHOST TOWN Het verlaten dorp Al Madam Ghost Town bestaat uit 2 rijen huizen en een moskee aan het uiteinde van het dorp. Alle huizen zijn bezweken aan het veranderende zand en de harde realiteit van het woestijnleven. Op sommige plaatsen zie je nog steeds de decoratieve vloer en de muurschildering, maar in sommige kamers klom het zand zo hoog dat je er niet in kunt komen. Sommigen zeggen dat het spookachtig is om deze spookstad te bezoeken, persoonlijk vonden we het vrij rustig. Eenmaal bewoond door Al Kutbi-stamleden, is het onduidelijk waarom de stad is verlaten: sommigen zeggen dat het een "jinn" (een bovennatuurlijk wezen in de islamitische mythologie) is dat mensen heeft weggedreven, sommigen zeggen dat het gewoon het barre weer is. Al Madam Ghost Town zou niet de must-see lijst van de VAE zijn, maar het is nog steeds een interessante excursie om te nemen als je de tijd hebt.

Booked this tour hoping to see a ghost town, turns out the real ghost was the tour itself. No driver, no message, no number that works. I sat in the lobby like a lost suitcase waiting for a pickup that never came. Even Viator couldn’t reach them. If you enjoy being ignored and abandoned with zero explanation, this is the tour for you. Otherwise, book literally anything else.
It’s an interesting place on the way to Fujairah or Dibba. We spent about 40 minutes in the location, it’s a good stop over. They’ve got a few art objects in the desert village, almost fully covered with sand. They have right and sound installations concrete tent and a couple of other art objects.

Our tour guide, Yusuf, came highly recommended by the Al Badayer Resort which drove us to the villas and told us a bit about the history of the village.
Al Madam Ghost Town is very much underrated. This place is awesome of you have a 4WD! Just make sure you have a shovel in the car or that your car has a "crawl" option. This is usually available in FJ's. The place is very peaceful. You can see a mosque, villas that are half covered in sand and an entry gate that looks like a frame. You can visit this place via 2 entrances. Where Google Map took us was an andveturous path. However, there is another way that does not require a lot of obstacle courses and this will lead you to that frame. Do not expect anybtpilet. Make sure you akready do your business before reaching this place.
While we found the ‘Ghost town’ interesting, and photogenic, there was no ‘tour’ to speak of. Our “guide” had fallen asleep within 5 minutes of picking us up (drive was about an hour out to the site), said about 4 sentences to us the whole time (2 of which were trying to sell us other tours), and then spent the entire trip back yelling into his phone. He and the driver sat in the car while we explored the site.
