Op het eerste gezicht lijkt de wijk Gràcia in Barcelona de poortwachter te zijn van de herrijzende Catalaanse identiteit: "Bevrijd Catalonië!" graffiti gekrabbeld in de achterafstraatjes, Catalaanse vlaggen wapperend vanaf zoveel balkons, het duidelijke geluid van de Catalaanse taal te horen in cafés en eetgelegenheden. Maar als je de overdekte markten, bakkerijen en kleine bodega's van dit kleurrijke, minder verkende gebied verkent, verdwijnt de politiek van de dag en komen de diepe culinaire wortels van deze unieke cultuur in beeld.

Onze dag zal bestaan uit een reeks heerlijke hapjes en intrigerende sites. We beginnen onze foodtour in Barcelona met koffie en traditioneel gebak in een eeuwenoude snoepwinkel en eten ons vervolgens een weg door twee van Barcelona's meest gevierde markten.
Terwijl we door een van de minder bekende openbare markten van Barcelona lopen, stoppen we om enkele van zijn verkopers te leren kennen en hun heerlijke aanbod te proeven.
Op elk van de tientallen plaatsen die we tijdens deze tour bezoeken, van rustiek tot verfijnd, leren we meer over de Catalaanse keuken en het dagelijkse Catalaanse leven in zijn bolwerk, de wijk Gràcia.

I went on the Made in Catalonia tour with the very affable Pam and it was amazing! Winding our way through the narrow streets of Gracia, we visited a wonderful variety of shops and restaurants. The pace was perfect, the food was excellent and we learned a lot from Pam's extensive knowledge of the local cuisine and history. She also gave me some great recommendations for restaurants in other areas of the city. Take the tour!

Wonderfull tour with Pamela. We enjoyed the food and all the details she told us about the food and Garcia.
Our guide Guillermo was fabulous. We were a small group so moving from place to place was easy. We sampled Catalan food and drinks. And got to visit businesses that were authentic and not chains. I felt like we really got a genuine taste of great food and explored a new neighborhood. I learned so much!

We had a wonderful time touring Barcelona with Senem. She was a great guide for our group and took us all over the city. She gave us a true variety, starting with breakfast, moving through snacks at the market, and ending with a great lunch. Had an amazing day with Senem our tour guide. Explored a fascinating and genuine area of Barcelona. The itinerary was perfect for us with a blend of food shops and Bodegas/small restaurants. All of the stops (and there were many) were of the highest quality. Nice, friendly small group. This was our third tour with Culinary Backstreet and like the other 2 was extremely well done. Ivan lead us through Gracia district sharing the history and giving us a taste of the typical cusine. We enjoyed tasting the variation of food and drink, which there was plenty of, from one district to another. I loved the village feel of Gracia. Ivan also shared some of his favorite places to eat in other areas of Barcelona. We'd definitely recommend this tour!!!
