Beschrijving
Uniek geleid bezoek aan het Algemeen Archief van Indië in Sevilla. Rondleiding door een uniek gebouw in Sevilla dat in 1987 door UNESCO werd uitgeroepen tot werelderfgoed, het Archivo General de Indias. Leer van de hand van een erfgoedexpert een belangrijke plek om de opwindende geschiedenis van de stad Sevilla en haar relatie met Amerika te begrijpen. U zult ontdekken hoe het niet zomaar een plaats is en dat het niet eens als archief is opgevat, maar dat het is ontstaan door een conflict tussen de kathedraal van Sevilla en de kooplieden en kooplieden die de stad in de 16e eeuw bevolkten. We zullen ook alle toepassingen ontdekken die aan deze ruimte zijn gegeven voordat het werd uitgeroepen tot Algemeen Archief van Indië, en we zullen documenten van onschatbare waarde zien die op deze plek worden bewaard. Het bezoek begint bij de hoofdgevel van het Archivo de Indias en voordat we binnenkomen, zullen we er een korte wandeling omheen maken om de historische relatie van dit gebouw met de monumenten eromheen, de kathedraal en het Alcázar van Sevilla te begrijpen.
Later zullen we de twee verdiepingen van het Archivo de Indias bezoeken en zullen we doorgaan met het ontdekken van de belangrijkste aspecten van deze werelderfgoedruimte.

The Archives tell so much of a story about Isabella, Sevilla and the New World. The building is a story in itself and the details about the voyages to the "Indies" are stunning.

Unbeatable!! A very interesting and complete visit, also very rigorous and surprisingly enjoyable. Ruben’s (our guide) ability to convey what life was like at the time and how that translates to the different elements of the visit is incredible (both outside and inside the building). Spectacular experience. The visit was super complete, kept you 2 hours with total interest. It was noticeable that the guide was a highly trained person and that he had prepared the route with great interest, giving interesting and enjoyable information. It is curious that a visit to a single building allows you to get an idea of a whole historical stage. Super recommended!

The guide spoke very fast in Spanish - difficult to understand; no English guide available. While during the tour portions of the Archivio de Indias were closed because of a special "exploration" exhibit inauguration (from 20 September to January 2025) later the access to the Archivio and the new exploration area was opened after the tour guide left. Accessing the Archivio without a guide is free and also the exploration exhibit newly opened is free. Not worth the paid guide. For those who investigate documents across the street the Archivio with the original documents stored can be viewed free of charge against showing of passport/identity credentials and the filling out of two forms which include the Archivio's regulations. Archivists are very very helpful and forthcoming...In case of consultation you get a password for the Archivio's platform and it is possible entering the Archivio with its own computer.
Good afternoon Elisabetta, Indeed, the entrance is free, but you made a reservation for a guided tour in Spanish. The guide is a great professional who enriches the visit to a building as important as this, in fact this is demonstrated by all the ratings received on different platforms. So perhaps the mistake was yours in booking a guided tour in a language you do not know. Best regards.
Rubén took us into the fascinating History of the Archive of the Indies, with stories full of passion and mastery, he kept us in suspense for almost two hours.
