Deze tour neemt je mee naar 2 belangrijke steden van het schiereiland Salento, zoals Galatina, met zijn fascinerende laatromaanse kerk van Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, gebouwd in 1390, vol bedekt met prachtige fresco's door arbeiders van de Giotto-school. Castro, een oude Messapische stad ongeveer 20 kilometer ten zuiden van Otranto, waar we langs de beste kustroute rijden om te genieten van de adembenemende kliffen. Er wordt gezegd dat het de plaats was waar Aeneas, de voorvader van de stichters van Rome, voor het eerst in Italië landde na zijn ontsnapping uit de Trojaanse oorlog. Hier bezoekt u het kasteel dat het archeologische museum herbergt met verschillende vondsten van Griekse kolonies, en de plek van de mythische tempel van de godin Minerva. Van de verbazingwekkende klif van Castro heb je een verbluffende ervaring met een bezoek aan de "Zinzulusa Cave", waar we zelfs stoppen om te zwemmen in de helderste azuurblauwe zee die je ooit hebt gezien.

Transfer van Lecce naar Galatina 30 minuten. U bezoekt de laatromaanse kerk van Santa Caterina d'Alessandria gebouwd in 1390 door Raimondello Orsini del Balzo, graaf van Soleto. Het interieur bevat fresco's van kunstenaars van "Giotto school", die de kerk de tweede in Italië maken, na San Francesco d'Assisi Basilica, voor zijn picturale cycli.
Wandelend langs de oude stad kunt u verschillende aristocratische paleis vinden dat werd gebouwd toen Galatina deel uitmaakte van het graafschap Soleto met "Giovanni Antonio" de zoon van Raimondello en Maria d'Enghien, koningin van Napels Koninkrijk van 1406 tot 1414. Sluit het centrale plein is er de barokke kerk van San Pietro herbouwd uit 1633 op een eerdere Byzantijnse (Grieks-ritus) bouwwerk. Vlakbij is de kleine Kapel van San Paolo die een bron herbergt die, volgens de traditie, in staat was om mensen te genezen gebeten door giftige tarantula's (die gebeten werden tarantati of pizzicati genoemd in het lokale dialect, waaruit de beroemde Italiaanse volksdans begint). Galatina staat ook bekend om de gebakjes die al generaties lang in de lokale banketbakkerij worden geproduceerd. In de meest bekende kunt u uzelf verwennen door de "Pasticciotto" te proeven met in de heerlijke room.
Transfer van Galatina naar Soleto met een korte stop onderweg om de Raimondello Orsini Spire te bezoeken.
Transfer van Soleto naar Palascia vuurtoren 30 min. De hoge witte cilindrische vuurtoren op het meest oostelijke punt van Italië. Wandelend langs het pad kunt u genieten van het prachtige uitzicht op Otranto kosten. Vanaf hier rijden we langs de prachtige klif, langs typische dorpjes zoals Porto Badisco e Santa Cesarea Terme, richting de Zinzulusa-grot (30 minuten ongeveer).
De naam van de Grotto komt van de "vodden" in het lokale dialect "zinzuli", omdat de stalactieten lijken op veel hangende vodden. Het bezoek bestaat uit drie delen : "La Conca" dat gekenmerkt wordt door stalactieten en stalagmieten; "De Duomo" met zijn gewelf van ongeveer 25 meter hoog; "Il Cocito" met zeer helder water stroomt er doorheen waarin zich gelaagd zoet water aan de bovenkant en brak water aan de onderkant bevindt. Het is een waar natuurspektakel. De grot is niet geschikt voor mensen met beperkte mobiliteit. Er zijn verschillende treden om in de grot te komen, soms smal, nat en glad, dus het moet comfortabele schoenen dragen. Het grotbezoek duurt 30 minuten en het wachten om naar binnen te gaan hangt af van de wachtrij. Hier kunt u ook zelfstandig lunchen in de dichtbij gelegen restaurants met hun heerlijke terrassen aan zee.
Transfer vorm Zinzulusa grot naar Castro historische centrum 5 min. De naam van de stad is afgeleid van Castrum Minervae (Latijn voor "Athena's kasteel"), dat was oude Messapische stad met een tempel gewijd aan de godin Minerva. Er wordt gezegd dat het de plaats was waar Aeneas, de voorvader van de stichters van Rome, voor het eerst in Italië landde na zijn ontsnapping uit de Trojaanse oorlog (zoals ook gepubliceerd door de Independent in april 2007). Hier bezoekt u het kleine historische centrum en het kasteel waar binnenin het archeologisch museum met verschillende vondsten van Griekse kolonies is gevestigd, en de plek van de mythische tempel met de laatste ontdekking van een vrouwelijk standbeeld uit de 4e eeuw voor Christus, vermoedelijk met een afbeelding van de godin Minerva. In de kamer beneden toont een groot paneel u alle etappes van de reis van Aeneas, verteld door Vergilius in de Aeneid, voordat u naar de toren gaat om te genieten van het geweldige uitzicht.

My fiancée and I booked a tour with Bob and had a fantastic day out. As our hotel was a little out of the way, Bob offered to adjust the itinerary to make things easier which we really appreciated. He took us to the beautiful towns of Otranto and Castro, both of which are a must see for anyone interested in history. Along the way, he told us so much about the history and culture of the area as he knows the area like the back of his hand. On top of this, his friendly and enthusiastic attitude made it impossible not to enjoy the day. We would thoroughly recommend this fantastic trip to anyone visiting the area.
We had a wonderfull time with Bob our Tour guide. We went along the Coast. Where He showed us the most beautyful places along the adriatic Coast. Due to us not beeing hungry we got even more to see than we expected. Also he recommended a lot of places where you can habe very good food in lecce. Overall 12/10 experience. Would book again. Traveling the territory between Lecce and Santa Maria di Leuca on the east coast is an adventure filled with scenic views and astonishing experiences… Roca Vecchia, Grotta della Poesia, Torre dell’Orso, i Faraglioni di Sant’Andrea, Castro, Otranto… So if you need a transport service from or to different cities of Salento, the best way to enjoy your vacation is asking Bob to organise your immersive tour coast to coast, with no shortage of halts, including some wine tasting or swimming in turquoise Mediterranean beaches for fully enjoying the amazing landscapes that will blow your mind. I customised our trip with Bob and we had an amazing weekend. I do suggest you try this lovely experiece.
this is a great way ti see the area. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this trip for a few reasons= the tour guide is very friendly knowledgeable and it us next ti impissible to do by oneself. His wife was with us and she is a very pleasant lovely woman. They bith privided an insight into the region that would be impossible ti learn by oneself
Lovely second excursion for me with Roberto who is such a nice guide-driver.We went to Otranto and down the coast, with a few stops (Porto Badisco,Castro Marina...) I can only highly recommend this tour formula which I appreciated a lot as a solo traveler,very convenient

for various reasons , I have the opportunity to spend about two hundred nights each calendar year outside my home , which makes me a veteran of the community . It is therefore with enthusiasm and realism that I express my personal assessment of " at Casa delle Salentine " . position : barycentric to every location 'of importance for a stay in the land of 'Otranto of absolute comfort' and relaxation , I leave out the centrality' in the location 'where' the "House of the Salentine " with the immediate proximity to every Public Service and commercial establishments (to remain there forever) in addition to the friendliness' of the C.E.O. Roberto. The other users of the private beach - where they accompanied us - with very friendly bathers and an indefinite 'comfort' and ease' of free public parking ; structure : wonderfully designed with architectural attention and particular combination of materials that do not alter the dating and the structure of the home-restaurant ; services of the structure : any description would be extremely euphemistic compared to the abundance of the offer in genuine cuisine served to patrons , menu 'complete with every gift of nature and able to meet the needs of every palate and taste - even refined and particular - abundant and adequate to spend the whole day ; outdoor spaces : excellent cleanliness , excellent comfort , summer breeze , harmony of the furnishings available and excellent accessibility 'and privacy ; Welcoming and greetings of goodbyes affability 'indescribable , almost familiar ; competitive prices and special attention to every need of guests . Bob showed up on time. We were within the old city of Lecce and he sent us a picture of where we should meet within a one minute walk of our lodging. He took us as planned to a nice sandy beach on the Adriatic—Lido Circeo. He asked how long we wanted to stay at the beach and he showed back up at the appointed hour to take us to his home for lunch in the garden. We had a very nice multicourse meal prepared by his lovely wife, Sandra. Everything was exactly as advertised. He then returned us back to our lodging. He was so pleasant to deal with that we hired him a couple of days later just to drive us to the city of Gallipoli. At the designated time he then returned us to our lodging and Leche. Highly recommended!
Experience was lovely. The host and his wife made us feel very welcome and treated us as if we were family or long time friends. The garden where we had lunch was private and lovely and the food delicious
