Reisroute

Filtered on an English tour via Tripadvisor. This tour is NOT English! In the description 'What can you expect' the daily schedule is not in the correct order. Start = to El Chiflon, from the center it takes about 3 hours. 2h time to walk around the park and do optional activities (extra money). Apparently you can take a route left or right, was not clear to us. From the left you have the option to see 2 more waterfalls next to the 3 waterfalls. From there almost 2h drive to Montebello lakes. In the description it says 2.5h hiking and then in the vicinity of Sumidero Canyon, there is NO WALKING around the Montebello lakes. Nothing was said about the Canyon either. Only activity (extra money) at Montebello was on a raft paddling on the lake and then swimming, that is not in the description so we had no stuff with us. Well done because otherwise we had to wait 2 hours and the lake is worth seeing. The lagoons are located in a so-called park, by car we drove past 2 more lagoons, but are not able / allowed to get off for photos. A little further (20min) stopped at the border with Guatemala and associated lagoons. For us a -nice- surprise because there is nothing mentioned in the description about the border. The return journey took 3.5 hours. In total the tour was from 8am-10pm of which we spent 4.5 out of the car. And bring cash, everything optional can only be paid with cash.
They charge me a lot more that they charge other people and they didn’t do all it was in the interneraty .. I wasn’t happy
I went on the full-day tour to Montebello Lakes and El Chiflón waterfall from San Cristóbal de las Casas. It was an amazing experience! The van was uncomfortable for the long ride, but I brought my own cushion, so I was fine. I do recommend taking a motion sickness pill before you leave! The driver and his assistant were very friendly, and the assistant spoke some English, took pictures, and hung out with me throughout the tour. The El Chiflón waterfall was beautiful—crystal-green water! It was too cold to swim in February, but the walk up wasn’t too hard—about 20 minutes if you don’t stop. The zipline down was incredible, passing the waterfall! Then we even went to the Mexico-Guatemala border—what a unique stop! It was a long day—8 a.m. to 9 p.m.—but absolutely worth it!
Excellent experience, the start path is long but completely worth it. The waterfalls are great and I recommend using the zip line only if you have as a way to store your cell phone and wallet, as it is likely you can drop it. The food in the Lakes is too rich and the canoeing I recommend taking it The final part in the international lake took me by surprise, was the cherry on the cake. Very late but worth it
- Picked us up 15 min late - Van broke down before we even made it out of town so we had to change vans to a much smaller van - with 15 people on our tour, we were very cramped - Itinerary does not match what is listed on Viator - While at the first montebello lake, van gets a flat tire so the tour guide leaves us at the lake on our own to go get the tire fixed - The van came back without the tire fixed and now 4 other van drivers are helping to change it, using a spare tire from another van because the spare tire in our van was already flat. - The tour was 2 hours longer than stated on Viator
The bluest waters I have ever seen. You can also swim along the route. It is a long, full-day trip that is worth visiting.
