Na het ophalen komen we samen in het FNB Voetbalstadion op de buitenwijken van Soweto. Ontmoet je gids en luister naar een korte uitleg over het beroemde voetbalstadion en de rol die het speelde in de geschiedenis van Soweto.
We vertrokken naar het hart van Soweto en reden voorbij Baragwanath Hospital, een enorme taxistandplaats en de historische buitenwijk van Diepkloof
Onze eerste stop in Soweto is bij de informele nederzetting Motsoaledi. Loop met je gids door de straten langs straatcafés en ambacht naar een gemeenschapscentrum dat MoAfrika sponsort. Begroet en ontmoet de mensen in de nederzetting en leer meer over hun manier van leven.
We gaan verder via Orlando West naar het centrum van Soweto. We stoppen buiten de Regina Mundi-kerk en Vrijheidsplein voor een snel overzicht
Het Hector Pieterson Museum is een groot museum in Orlando West, Soweto, Zuid-Afrika, twee blokken verwijderd van waar Hector Pieterson op 16 juni 1976 werd neergeschoten en vermoord.
We banen ons een weg door de levendige Vilakazi-straat, langs iconische monumenten en de huizen van Nelson en Winnie Mandela en aartsbisschop Desmond Tutu.
Als de tijd het toelaat, heb je de mogelijkheid om te stoppen bij Nelson Mandela Museum voor een bezoek (op eigen kosten)
De ochtend eindigt in een populair restaurant aan de voet van de enorme Soweto-torens. Geniet van een traditionele maaltijd van 'shisa nyama' en bezoek de ambachtelijke markt. Als je enthousiast bent, kun je bungeejumpen van de top van de torens (op eigen kosten en als de tijd het toelaat).
We bezoeken het wereldberoemde Apartheidsmuseum, waar je meer te weten komt over de geschiedenis van Zuid-Afrika en de strijd van zijn bevolking tijdens het apartheidstijdperk

We siebt a really interesting day with our perfect guide Nicholu. He showed us the Apartheid museum and we had enough time to visit it on our own. Then, we went to the stade and the Orlando Towers. We were in the part of the Soweto-Township, where the poorest people live. A lady showed us how she lives there and we visited a Kindergarden too. If you want to help the Community, buy something in their shop, they make everything themselves and the money is for the hole Community. We went to a restaurant with a african buffet with a delicious choice of meat vegetables and dessert. Vegeterian and Vegan people will tove the vegetables. After lunch, Nicholu showed us the houses of Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela and in the end, we went to the Hector Pieterson Memorial Center. Nicholus was a perfect guide who gave us many Information. We highly recommand this tour and this guide.

Lobo was an extraordinary tour guide and driver. Lebo was a "walking encyclopedia" of South African history! We were able to talk with him freely, he encouraged us to ask questions, and we could tell he was a man of integrity and took his responsibilities seriously. Amazing tour! I traveled with my mom and did the "Soweto, Apartheid and Lunch" history tour. Our guide, Lebo, was absolutely fantastic: kind, warm, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. He explained everything with so much detail, clarity, and passion, and helped us understand not only the history of the places we visited, but also about the deeper historical and cultural context behind them.
