We beginnen onze rondreis door Riyad met een bezoek aan de belangrijkste bewaarder van het Saoedische nationale erfgoed en de cultuur, het Nationaal Museum. Tegenwoordig is het een plaats van leren en ontdekken met een unieke verzameling artefacten en beslaat de hele geschiedenis van het Arabische schiereiland tot aan de moderne tijd.
Na het Nationaal Museum gaan we verder naar het nabijgelegen Murrabba-paleis dat vroeger de koninklijke residentie was waar koning Abdulaziz zijn hofhouding organiseerde. Het paleis is vernoemd naar zijn vierkante vorm van 40 bij 40 meter en is nu een van de belangrijkste musea van de stad.
Grenzend aan het Murabba-paleis, herbergt een modern gebouw een verzameling persoonlijke spullen van koning Abdulaziz die we kort zullen bekijken. Deze plaatsen vormen het hart van de geboorte van de Saoedische natie.
we zullen het Masmak-fort bezoeken dat op loopafstand van de oude souk ligt en waarvan het belang verband houdt met de oprichting van het 3e Saoedische koninkrijk, het moderne waarin we leven. Het versterkte paleis werd gebouwd tijdens het bewind van Abdullah bin Rashid in de jaar 1895 na Christus om als militair garnizoen te dienen voor het leger van Abdullah bin Rashid.
we gaan naar de beroemde Kingdom Tower en de Sky Bridge om Riyadh te zien vanuit een panoramisch uitkijkpunt op bijna 300 meter boven de stad.

Ophaallocaties en -tijden
Start van de tour: onze tour begint om 08:30 uur, maar de ophaalservice is 30-60 minuten van tevoren Ophalen: we halen zijn klanten op in de meeste grote hotels in Riyad. De ophaaltijd varieert van 1 uur tot 30 minuten voor aanvang van de tour op het eindpunt. Wij bevestigen met u een dag eerder op een nauwkeurig tijdstip per e-mail. Afzetten: na de tour zet ons voertuig de passagiers af in uw hotel in Riyad

Tour guide was just a driver. Hardly any info on the city. He was good at drop off & pick up. We hardly knew much about Riyadh at end of the day.

Moosa was nice and friendly but bad luck all around as the fortress was closed -he didn’t know- the Souq hasn’t much to offer, the king tower inaccessible till 4 pm (tour ended already at lunch time) and to make up the lost time I invited Moosa to join me for lunch which he refused. Ending up me having lunch by myself with a guide sitting in his car outside. He wasn’t hungry but even joining for a drink he couldn’t, disappointing day and the tour operator just drives you to places not really participates. On top of that I paid for 2 as there’s no option paying for just one person.

The guide is taking you to several sights of interest. They will not walk inside of the sights with me. So, they are more of a driver than a guide in the traditional sense. However, it’s a great way to get to see places of relevance in Riyadh. I enjoyed the tour and my conversations in the car.

We were picked up at the hotel on time, which is not a given with the traffic. Visiting the market and the fortress is interesting, although there is not much going on in the market. The museum is made exciting, but the midday meal is a bit of a bust, bland rice and half a chicken, two sauces with it... You can do better than that. Last we visit the Skybridge and enjoy the great view.

The sites were spectacular. I highly recommend this tour especially with a small group. The open market was disappointing.
