Beschrijving
Elafonisi is een schiereiland dat vaak door water in twee delen wordt verdeeld, waardoor het lijkt alsof het een apart eiland is. Het heeft onderscheidende kenmerken, zoals een exotisch strand met ongerept wit zand en oogverblindend turquoise water, dat doet denken aan het Caribisch gebied. Het zand op het strand krijgt in veel gebieden een roze tint, dankzij de miljoenen geplette schelpen die bijdragen aan de kleuring. De tour naar Elafonisi biedt een unieke combinatie van activiteiten, waaronder een bezoek aan een pittoresk en oud klooster, een strandexcursie en een mooie rit door diverse landschappen. Bovendien maakt de tour maatwerk mogelijk op basis van de voorkeuren van de klanten, waardoor ze de mogelijkheid krijgen om van de authentieke Kretenzische keuken te genieten en een persoonlijke ervaring te creëren.

We beginnen de tour door het strand van Elafonisi ongeveer 2 uur te bezoeken en daarna twee kleinere, minder drukke stranden. (+rijduur 1,5 uur) Gratis toegang tot het strand
Een extra stop bij het Chrisoskalitissa-klooster (gelegen op een 35 meter hoge rots met grenzeloos uitzicht op zee) wordt ten zeerste aanbevolen, aangezien het een van de mooiste kloosters op het eiland is en ook gelegen tussen de twee kleine stranden die ik hierboven noemde. toegangsprijs is 2,5 €
Voulolimni ligt ongeveer 500 meter ten noordwesten van het Chrysoskalitissa-klooster. Het is eigenlijk een kleine krater, omgeven door rotsen, die een klein zeemeer vormt. Dat wil zeggen, het is eigenlijk geen strand, maar de rotsachtige "poel" voor de bewoners van het dorp Chrysoskalitissa.
Aspri limni Aspri Limni is een van de raarste stranden van Kreta, die bijna niemand kent. Dit is een klein geheim strand, 500 meter ten westen van het Chrysoskalitissa-klooster. Het nabijgelegen exotische Elafonissi-strand trekt duizenden bezoekers. Niemand heeft echter gehoord van deze prachtige naburige plaats. Het strand heeft fijn wit zand en hier en daar rotsen en scherpe rotsen eromheen, die doen denken aan een klein witachtig meer in de zee.
Op onze weg terug naar Chania (via de westkust van Kreta), kunnen we stoppen bij het strand van Sfinari voor de lunch in een visrestaurant dat vers gevangen vis en zeevruchten serveert. Alternatieve opties voor restaurants zijn beschikbaar op het strand van Falasarna. Als gevolg hiervan bezoekt u Kreta van zuidwest naar noordwest (u zult ook tijdens het rijden genieten van ongelooflijke landschappen). (+ 1 uur rijden om het restaurant te bereiken) (+ 1 uur rijden om terug te gaan naar de stad Chania)

This was an incredible day on Crete getting a feel for life on the island. Yiannis was super kind and friendly and let us get a feel for how the local people have lived here for generations. Saw beautiful beaches and mountains. The culture is rich in tradition and family. Ate an incredible seafood meal that was so fresh and delicious. Loved every minute of this tour. Highly recommend this tour!

Yiannis was the best tour guide. Very flexible with our meeting time as we were coming from the ship docking at port. He informed us hen he arrived and where to find him. Talked with us about his country and the island. Gave us options as to what we wanted to do since it was our day. Went to Elafonisi beach and had towels for us to use. Brought us to a wonderful Greek restaurant for lunch before returning us to the port in time to board our ship. Highly recommend Yiannis as a tour guide for the day.

Yiannis was unbelievable! Great communication and really listens to his clients. He will adjust the tour to your needs and wants. Very clean Mercedes van with a provided cooler of drinks and beach towels. Elafonissi beach is absolutely gorgeous with crystal clear water! We stayed for about an hour and a half and then visited 2 other beaches that are much smaller but also very pretty. We chose the longer drive home that allowed us to follow the mountains along the coastline. We even stopped at his uncle’s fish restaurant that was sooo delicious! Highly recommend this tour or any other tour with Yiannis!

Yiannis was amazing! You will not regret booking a tour with this local! Yiannis shared”his” Crete with us. Elafonisi beach was beautiful, but the cultural, historical insight Yiannis provided truly made the experience exceptional. Vehicle was impeccable, comfortable, and the driver was safe. Crete was beautiful!! Thanks to our guide Yiannis for showing us all around his home island. We got to ride all through the countryside and saw sooooo many olive trees (Crete has 34 million🤯), goats, sheep, fig trees and donkeys. We also saw several cats, which Robert Berry was thrilled at😂. We went to one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Elafonisi beach has millions of tiny pink sea shells making the sand look pink and there is crystal clear blue water. We went to a Monastery on the top of a mountain and the rode for a couple hours to a seafood restaurant right in the waterfront. I had a grouper grilled over charcoals (it was just caught a few hours before we arrived), John Robert had lamb chops, Robert Berry had the fried baby shrimp(with heads and tails still attached😱) and Juleigh Vena had a hamburger 😂. It was so good!! The restaurant brought me a freshly caught cuttlefish to try. Then some Greek donut holes with honey and cinnamon on them (can’t remember the name). We were worn out and came back to the boat full of food and memories. ❤️
We were a group of 4 females on this tour. Yiannis was a wonderful guide. We started with the pink beach, then a private cozy cove, followed by a drive through the mountains. He gives you clear options to tailor the experience to what you would want to do. I would suggest some form of swimming shoes for the private cove, as the rocks could be tricky getting in. He provides towels, snorkeling equipment, water/soda. He is very a knowledgeable regarding the area. We even saw his cousin briefly! I absolutely would recommend using him if you want a quality tour!
