Deze 2-daagse tocht naar de erfenis van de Jacobieten brengt u naar de spectaculaire Hooglanden en de verhalen van historische veldslagen die zijn uitgevochten door de aanhangers van koning James II (de Jacobieten). Bezoek Dunkeld, Fort William, Loch Ness en maak een rit met de beroemde Jacobieten-stoomtrein, die ook in de populaire Harry Potter-films is te zien. Max. 32 personen per minibus.

2-Day Steam Train and Great Glen Tour - This was an excellent tour that covered a lot of sights, had two boat cruises and a very scenic train ride. Our tour guide Graeme was outstanding - extremely personable and knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure we were in the right place for tours etc. at the right time. Our optional upgrade hotel was outstanding and our bus was very comfortable even for a 6'5" (1.95m) person.
Absolutely amazing trip. Our guide, Chris was perfect and took very good care of us if any problems came up. Incredibly beautiful views and many opportunities to see the most beautiful parts of the Highlands. Went with my 15-year-old son who appreciated it as much as I did, especially the Loch Ness tour and the train ride, of course.

Our driver/tour guide Stephen B was brilliant. Obviously he's a very proud Scotsman who wanted our lovely group from many different countries to fully enjoy immerse ourselves in the stories & legends of of the Highlands whether terrible battles where many lives were lost or mysterious stones & burial mounds thousands of years old. Stunning scenery can be found around every corner... tranquil lochs, pretty waterfalls, mist-shrouded peaks & ruined castles there's a tale to be told behind one. Add in a Jacobite steam train that crosses high viaducts, a picturesque fishing village & a cute B&B for an overnight stay & it makes for a great 2-day adventure.

Great experience! Our guide Steven B was very knowledgeable and entertaining as well as being a very good driver, he gave us lots of info and clear instructions when needed. Will definitely use this company again! Oh and the B&B was a 10/10

Lots of time on the bus, but frequent stops for pictures. Our guide, Kenneth, was very knowledgeable and full of interesting facts, and very attentive to his passengers. There were times when we couldn’t understand or hear him, either because of other noise, or at times he spoke too fast., but overall he was a very good guide. And a great driver. The tour included an overnight stay at a B&B. It was a nice and clean place, although the bed was a bit small for my 6’4” husband. The host was very friendly and the breakfast was nice. The train ride was a great experience.

This 2-day tour of the Highlands completely exceeded our expectations. One of the best tour guides I've ever had. Kenny has a very warm, respectful and attentive personality. We laughed a lot during the 2 days of the tour, and it was very inspiring to travel with a very cultured guide who has an innate love of his country, besides that I took a very nice musical playlist from Scotland. The tour was simply spectacular: mountains, lakes and landscapes that look like they were taken from a dream. Apart from the Highlands Experience Tours operator in Edinburgh, it has excellent customer service. Thank you very much Kenny!!

We made long stops just to buy snacks and stopped many times for a few minutes to take photos by the roadside. Although it was planned in the itinerary, we weren't able to stop to see Loch Ness or Urquhart Castle (Not entirely true, since we saw them from the side of the road.) The train was beautiful from the outside but there is no real interest to be inside. It must be much more beautiful to see the viaduct from the outside. Furthermore, part of the group took the train for the outward journey, and the other part for the return journey. We had to wait again, doing nothing, until the rest of the group arrived. In short the scenery was beautiful, but only from the bus, from the train and from the side of the road. I was really looking forward to this excursion and I was very disappointed.

The Loch Ness cruise and visit to Urquhart Castle are indeed part of our usual itinerary, and guests are normally able to enjoy both. Occasionally, unexpected factors such as weather, traffic, or operational delays mean our guides need to adjust the schedule to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety — but we always do our best to make the most of the time available. With the Jacobite Steam Train, we split the group so that everyone gets the chance to experience the journey both on board the famous train and from the outside — following it by coach for the best photo spots at the Glenfinnan Viaduct. This also helps us keep the tour price fair and accessible for all travellers. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the beautiful Highland scenery along the way, despite everything. What a truly fantastic experience! From the booking process right through to the tour itself: Amazing! While looking for a tour like this, I came across the Highland Experience Tours website via GetYourGuide. I was expecting a standard chatbot reply to my question but instead received very personalised advice and a 48-hour reservation hold so I could finalise my booking (and the rest of my trip). The tour itself was beautiful. Our guide, Ben, is a natural! He told us it was only his first season but he was born for this. Wonderful stories throughout the tour about Scotland's history, perfectly complemented by fitting music for the story or location. We did the 2-day tour from Edinburgh to the Highlands, including a ride on the Jacobite steam train (a.k.a. the Hogwarts Express). Highly recommended!
