Volg ons voor een rondleiding door het industriële deel van Grand Bahama. Hier ontdekt u de Internationale Bazaar, beroemd om zijn Tori-poort. Vervolgens gaan we door Church Row en het prachtige dennenbos, langs de schilderachtige Sunrise Highway naar onze eerste stop.
Wanneer we stoppen bij de Garden of the Groves, zult u genieten van de kronkelende paden door weelderige vegetatie, watervallen en glinsterende fonteinen. Bekijk de verbazingwekkende kapel, die is ingewijd en een geweldige keuze is voor bruiloften op de Bahama's, evenals een gebed en meditatie. Verken de Garden Shoppes en ontdek de heilige schoonheid van het labyrint. Gedurende onze tijd hier zult u dol zijn op de vogels en vlinders, het is gecertificeerd Wildlife Habitat door de Amerikaanse Wildlife Federation. Dit betekent dat de nieuwe exploitanten de vier elementaire habitatelementen leveren die nodig zijn om de natuur te laten gedijen: voedsel, water, dekking en plaatsen om jongen groot te brengen. Je kunt een wandeling maken door het koele varenbos en de imposante kalkstenen rotsen bewonderen die over beide zijden van het pad torenen, of ontspannen op het "Lofty Fig" -dek, waar je de mogelijkheid hebt om lokale delicatessen en koele Bahamaanse drankjes te kopen .
We gaan dan naar de populaire Port Lucaya Marketplace, hier zijn er twaalf gebouwen in eilandstijl, genesteld op een vijf hectare groot schiereiland, dat uitkijkt op een van de meest complete jachthavens in de Bahama's. Wandel tussen de tachtig speciaalzaken, boetieks, restaurants, binnen- en buitenbars en cafés. U vindt de meest luxueuze en gerespecteerde namen in sieraden, porselein, kristal, parfum en designer kleding en accessoires, allemaal tegen belastingvrije prijzen. Als u klaar bent met winkelen, keert u terug naar de dokken van het cruiseschip. Gasten die langer op de Markt willen blijven, zijn verantwoordelijk voor hun eigen vervoer terug naar de pier. Taxi shuttles rijden het grootste deel van de dag tussen de markt en de pier.

A lovely, relaxing tour and a great way to see Freeport. The Garden of the Groves was beautiful and peaceful, with lush greenery and waterfalls, while the city tour gave a nice insight into local life. Well organised, friendly guide, and perfectly timed from the port ideal for cruise passengers.
The Wow A Tour excursion never turned up to the cruise terminal, we even waited the 3 hours 8am to 11am for it. Cruise terminal guides could not contact the local agent because Wow A Tour only provided an English telephone number on their downloaded ticket. Had no chance of seeing any of the Bahamas that day. We have been refunded the full value the tour.
Garden of the Groves was very cool, not too much for an older person like me, took guided tour then plenty of time to walk around and see things that caught your eye in more detail and plenty of time for pictures without being rushed 😀
Definitely wasn’t a private tour . The company steadily tried to get me to pay for more guest even though I showed proof of payment and they still didn’t want to acknowledge it . Our driver fell asleep while we were waiting on him , the van was nasty , and the entire time we only learned about the hurricane damage that occurred years ago . I would not recommend!!!! Especially not for that price !!! You’re better off renting your own transportation and explore yourself
Our guide canceled on the excursion at 5am the morning of totally messing up our 6 hours we had in Freeport.
The company, Wow a Tour, doesn’t exist. They took our payment, but never contacted me about where and the time to meet in Freeport, Grand Bahamas. I called four times and all I got was an answering service recording. No one at the Terminal has ever heard of this company. It was a stressful, disappointing experience.
Could not see out a bus window one window had water trapped in it. Tour pointed out fast food restaurants. Gardens we’re okay. Shopping was row after row of tourist traps and jewelry stores.
The final port of call on my Venezia cruise was to Freeport. I liked the improvements made to the port itself however there's not much to do there. I booked and excursion to Garden of the Groves and it was worth it. The bus picked everyone up and took people to the botanical garden. Upon arrival the tour began with the guide going into detail and the exhibits in the garden, as well as the history of it. At the end of the tour there were some shops run by local merchants. I highly recommend this excursion.
Merilyn, our guide was excellent and informative. The driver was also great with information and even circled around for a picture opportunity. This is not a 'beach trip".
Our tour guide, Boo, waited for us as we had a late arrival into port. He was friendly and knowledgeable about Freeport. The Garden of the Groves was lovely with a one hour guided tour then an hour on our own. There was a nice restaurant that served local beer and food. There were also several local artisans selling their creations. We had a great tour of the surrounding areas with Boo pointing out interesting highlights. We then visited Port Lucaya Marketplace before heading back to our ship. Great tour for those who enjoy scenery and local culture.
