Ontdek het multiculturele hart van Istanbul tijdens een begeleide wandeltocht door de historische wijken Fener en Balat. Dwaal door kleurrijke straten en verken wijken die zijn gevormd door eeuwenlang Grieks, Armeens, Joods, Bulgaars en Ottomaans erfgoed. Bezoek een historische Grieks-orthodoxe kerk, bewonder het opvallende Grieks-orthodoxe Phanar College en bekijk de beroemde kleurrijke trappen. Ga verder naar de kerk van Saint Mary van de Mongolen en andere belangrijke religieuze bezienswaardigheden. Wandel in Balat tussen prachtig bewaard gebleven Ottomaanse huizen, bezoek de opmerkelijke Bulgaarse St. Stephen Church (IJzeren Kerk) en leer over het Joodse erfgoed van het gebied in de buurt van de historische Ahrida Synagoge. Na 560 jaar van werking (met een bepaalde rol het onderwijs van de Griekse homogene jonge studenten) dreigt deze Academische Universiteit te sluiten.
De Bulgaarse St. Stephen Kerk, ook wel bekend als de Bulgaarse IJzeren Kerk, is nog een prachtig monumentaal gebouw dat nog steeds in gebruik is in Istanbul.
Het gebouw waar Balat en Fener Greek High Schools zijn gevestigd staat er nog steeds en valt op als een prachtig voorbeeld van neoklassieke architectuur.
De Ahrida Synagoge, gelegen in Istanbul, Turkije, is een belangrijke attractie die zowel historisch als cultureel belang heeft.
Het oecumenisch patriarchaat is een van de vijftien autocefale kerken die samen de Oosters-orthodoxe Kerk vormen. Het wordt geleid door de oecumenisch patriarch van Constantinopel, de eerste onder de gelijken in de hiërarchie van de orthodoxe kerk, momenteel Bartholomeus, aartsbisschop van Constantinopel. Het patriarchaat is gevestigd in de wijk Phanar (Fener) van Istanbul sinds de late 16e eeuw."

It was a great ealk around the neighbourhood, we learnt a lot about history. Our guide was perfect, thanks a lot! We had a break in the middle of the tour for a coffee break, which was convenient.

I had a great time on my tour with Behlül! He was prompt in meeting me at the location, & since I was the only person who signed up, it turned into a private tour! We walked all through Fener/Balat & I got great photos, learned a lot, & enjoyed a Turkish coffee overlooking the Bosphorus at the end! Highly recommend this tour if you enjoy walking around cities!
