Don't go there.

Booked the thermal experience. The information says towels are included, but you need to make a refundable deposit of 20 dollars per towel. The pools are not well taken care of, full of algae. The person in charge of the towels and the bar inside the pool dissapears most of the day. Then, the other pools are no well painted, people that use mud get into the pools, it's a mess. Pools do not indicate their temperature. The entrance has not person checking who enters and leaves. The food is plain casado and dont you dare to repeat even though it's advertised as buffet where you can eat as you want to. Worst situation with drinks, only one fruit juice. Dessert only one available, you can eat only once and s pretty small portion. They take your plates before you finish eating though there's almost noone in the place. Compared to any place in La Fortuna, this place is the worst ever

What to know …

Arrival - note the prices are cheaper on line, in advance. Parking is free and the area feels safe. There are plenty of friendly staff to help answer questions. Best to bring water shoes and sun screen if you plan to be in the sun. We did not use bug spray and did not get bites, but there are a few flies. Change rooms - the area near arrival is acceptable, but not as nice as the newer area near the waterfall jump. You can ask for a wristband lock for the lockers. They also have towels and paper cups for water dispensers. Horses - the ride is uphill, so it’s more work for the horses than for you without them. The horses know what they’re doing, and you really don’t have to do anything. Ziplines - very good instructions, so just listen well and follow along. Super fun and good views. The first couple are shorter to practice and adapt. There is a tip jar at the end for the instructors. Cultural presentation - sweet lessons with snacks! Costa Ricans have much to be proud about! Water slide - this is a bit dangerous with the tight curves. You will have a helmet and an inner tube, but if you have any joint issues or fear of water this may be more scary than fun. I felt beat up at the end and needed a full day to stretch out the soreness afterwards. I wish I had skipped this, but the younger folks enjoyed it! Mud with river rinse and hot springs - the river has some big slippery rocks, so be slow and careful if you go there. The thermal pools have different temperatures and many areas of the pools are shaded. There were howler monkeys lounging in the trees above the big pool. One group found a large toad in a small pool that freaked them out, so the staff sprung into action and sent the toad to a safer spot. There were a few large iguanas spotted near the river pool area. There are no sloths here. Lunch - buffet style with vegetarian options. We were offered chicken and/or pork with sauces on the side, rice & beans, cooked vegetables, pumpkin soup, fresh salads, pasta, chips, water, juice, and desserts were brought to the tables. We didn’t want for anything and the quality of the food was good. Lunch closes at two but the tables continue to be available. Some people tipped for table service. Exploring the area - an older section has some suspended bridges with a limit of two people. They are secured appropriately but will swing and squeak. There are beautiful views, some colorful birds, lots of flowering plants and plenty of people to converse with in English. There are a couple of bars if you want to pay for alcohol/mixed drinks. If an area has too much noise you can find a quieter area to relax.

Excellent Adventure Day

We had a remarkable day from the moment we arrived. The cultural tour and tasting, horseback riding, ziplining, insane water slide, mud bath and the beautiful new thermals. Highly recommend.

Loved it!!!

Our family of five (kids ages 7, 9 & 15) loved every minute of our visit, from the cultural tour to horse back tour to the thrilling zip lining to chill time in the hot springs. The staff was awesome, super patient -- can't recommend enough. Didn't love the water slide, a little rough for me, but everything else was excellent. I remarked to my wife that if anything existed like this in the U.S. it would have been absolutely mobbed. But our late July visit was very calm and quiet. There were times when we were all alone in a pool or on the trail.

A Must Do!

This place was spectacular. I felt like I was totally immersed in nature. The new thermal hot & cold springs are amazing. My kids and I jumped off the waterfalls into the pools, we zip lined, pet the Ox named Carmelo and had a scrumptious lunch. I highly recommend this for an unforgettable day in the dry rainforest!

Great tour and worth the money. Only reason I didn’t give a 5 star is the lunch served was horrible. Had no taste and very limited options

A wonderful experience!

This excursion has been one of the best, ever! Everyone involved in assisting us along our excursion provided knowledgeable and considerate service. Special kudos to Adrian, our tour guide, for his special gift of making sure everyone was comfortable in each situation. Our driver was safe and conscientious as he drove us up and down the mountains. I felt completely at ease. It was also a great value. All of the above is very important when considering a tour. My expectations, in every aspect, were exceeded. Thank you!

Beautiful Experience, But Missing the Wow Factor

My overall experience was good. I visited with my husband and daughter, and they both thoroughly enjoyed it. The thermal waters were beautiful, and the waterfall provided a stunning backdrop. We ordered drinks and spent time relaxing in one of the pools, which was comfortably warm and very enjoyable. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. It was not quite what I expected—not necessarily in a negative way—but it did not have the “wow” factor I was anticipating. My biggest critique would be that many of the activities can only be experienced once, aside from the pools. This felt a little unusual, especially since the experience is designed around relaxation and spending an extended amount of time at the property. That said, we still had a wonderful time together as a family and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and peaceful atmosphere.
