Hier zijn de steengroeven die de stad Arequipa wit schilderen. Hoewel het gebied bekend staat om het werken met de grondstof van de architectuur van de Witte Stad, vulkanisch gesteente, brengt het ook enkele van de mooiste en meest indrukwekkende natuurlijke landschappen in het gebied samen. Door de Ruta del Sillar te volgen, kunt u het proces van extractie, snijwerk en mega-snijwerk van sillar observeren, een witte steen die de boventoon voert in de traditionele architectuur van de stad Arequipa. Deze route heeft de nodige infrastructuur en kwaliteitsvolle toeristische diensten om het tot de belangrijkste attracties van de regio te beschouwen. Een van de belangrijkste activiteiten die ter plaatse kunnen worden uitgevoerd, zijn de tolkworkshops, met de aanwezigheid van steenhouwers.

We zullen een stop maken op een plein of hoofdpunt als kennismaking met het waarderen van de vulkanen en het platteland van Arequipeña, na een korte tijd gaan we richting de Ruta del Sillar waar de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden zijn.
In Cerro Colorado liggen de steengroeven die de stad Arequipa wit schilderen. Een natuurlijk gevormde kloof bestaande uit Pink Ashlar, een authentieke creatie van de natuur waar we met grote zorg zullen wandelen om de oorsprong van de formatie van de hardsteen te bezoeken. Om ter zake te komen, maken we een reis van ongeveer 30 minuten onderweg en 30 minuten bij terugkomst vanaf de Canteras de Añashuayco. Bovendien duurt de wandeling naar het ravijn ongeveer 25 minuten, onderweg hebben we een indrukwekkend uitzicht op de roze hardsteen.

The best of my experience in Arequipa, we knew a lot about the origin of the Sillar, and the foundation of Arequipa, the guide was the maximum
It was a worthwhile excursion - very good value for the price & it was very interesting to see the quarry & to do the canyon walk. Disappointed though that we did not see any cutting or carving actually happening when we were there. I think it should also be highlighted that GOOD MOBILITY is needed for the walk. There are some big steps & rocks to navigate, and a steep ramp at the end to exit the walk.
Mixup in pickup location. They sent wrong address and communication did not resolve. Eventually we got to correct spot. Van was a stifling oven. Still interesting especially the walk through slot canyon

The place was nice but I feel the tour guide was a bit in a rush. Also, I asked for English tour and they had to arrange someone else last minute. Make sure to contact them before your tour. Other tours, the agency contacted me.

Took the afternoon session. Went to the stated pickup place which was a closed tour office. 15 mins before the start time received WhatsApp from the tour provider asked to meet at another place. Then received another unknown person WhatsApp message to meet at a different place. WhatsApp the tour provider what’s happening, didn’t reply in time. Met with the unknown person who had our names on her list. She stated that we were changed to another tour provider. Despite of the pick up confusion, nice walk in Culebrillas, reminded me of Antelopes in USA.
