Wat Pho, ook gespeld Wat Po, is een boeddhistisch tempelcomplex in het Phra Nakhon-district, Bangkok, Thailand. Het bevindt zich op het eiland Rattanakosin, direct ten zuiden van het Grand Palace. The Grand Palace is een complex van gebouwen in het hart van Bangkok, Thailand. Het paleis is sinds 1782 de officiële residentie van de koningen van Siam. De koning, zijn hof en zijn koninklijke regering waren tot 1925 gebaseerd op het terrein van het paleis.
Wat Phra Kaew, in het Engels algemeen bekend als de Tempel van de Smaragdgroene Boeddha en officieel als Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram, wordt beschouwd als de meest heilige boeddhistische tempel in Thailand. Ta Tian Market is een immense, frisse marktplaats aan de rivier, tegenover de witte muren van Wat Pho. De markt zelf wordt gemakkelijk gemist door de meeste bezoekers die vaak een pauze nemen in een van de charmante kleine cafés onder de bogen van de Sino-Portugese gevels, en niet veel mensen zien de kleine ingang precies in het midden van deze U-vormige erfgoedstijl gebouw. Deze discrete deur opent naar een korte tunnel en daarachter, alleen de nieuwsgierige reiziger zou een gigantische en drukke markt ontdekken, beschut onder een zeer hoog plafond. De plaats is meer een basismagazijn dan een markt, waar een enorm scala aan gedroogde zeeproducten wordt verkocht die in grote zakken worden getoond, ingrediënten voor het koken in de groothandel en allerlei verse producten, variërend van bekende groenten tot ingrediënten die er totaal vreemd uitzien.

This is the way to see the Grand Palace and Reclining Buddha. The crowds at those locations are no joke, so a knowledgeable guide and private vehicle allow for maximum flexibility and access. We were picked up from our hotel in a private car with driver and guide. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared information about the city of Bangkok, including restaurant recommendations and general information about the history of the city. He helped us navigate the crowded palace and explained the history of every sight. He was not able to accompany us into the reclining Buddha sanctuary, but directed us and met us outside when we were finished. At the end, we were driven back to our hotel for a comfortable, hassle-free end to a big day.

Eddie and his driver were very kind and helped us a lot because we needed to get back quickly to go to airport after the tour.
