De combinatie van het exotische Chinese paviljoenplezierpaleis, het paleistheater en de prachtige paleistuinen maken een bezoek aan Drottningholm een unieke ervaring. Beïnvloed door het Franse prototype, werd het paleis gebouwd door architect Nicodemus Tessin de Oudere in opdracht van koningin Hedvig Eleonora. Sindsdien hebben een aantal koninklijke personen hun stempel gedrukt op het paleis. The Palace is Their Majesties, de permanente woning van de koning en de koningin. De kamers in de zuidelijke vleugel van het paleis zijn gereserveerd voor dit doel. De rest van het paleis en het terrein zijn het hele jaar door open voor publiek.

Het Drottningholm-paleis staat op de werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO. Het is het best bewaarde koninklijke kasteel dat in de jaren 1600 in Zweden is gebouwd en tegelijkertijd representatief is voor alle Europese architectuur voor de periode.
In het paviljoen staat Chinees-geïnspireerde Zweedse rococo-meubels naast geïmporteerde Chinese objecten. Verschillende kamers hebben nog steeds hun originele Chinese zijden en papieren wandbekleding. Er zijn ook gelakte schermen, glas in lood, porselein en andere decoratieve objecten, waarvan er veel waarschijnlijk zijn geïmporteerd door de Zweedse Oost-Indische Compagnie. Sommige van de Chinese objecten hier zijn echter nog ouder, met inbegrip van stukken uit de tijd van koningin Hedvig Eleonora en koningin Kristina, toen porselein ongelooflijk duur was.

The castle is beautiful, the history very interesting. Agnes has been a guide for 30 years and is extremely knowledgeable so made the tour very special. We also learned so much about Sweden and how the society/government functions. Also fascinating. Our driver was excellent and the entire experience will be one we remember forever. So fortunate we were able to do this tour. We wanted to tour in the morning but the afternoon worked for the company and it turned out to be great as there were very few people there. I was surprised, it felt like we had the whole castle to ourselves. Thank you so much!

Zero stars not an option. Ten minutes early at hotel pickup point,waited 15 minutes, no show. Call tour operator Guide Father no answer. Called Viator support, they could not contact them also. This was a private tour. Pricey, left a four hour gap in our plans and in a foul mood. Really wanted to see this palace, and will not. Do not recommend this tour. Book at your own risk

The drive out to Drottningholm took about 25 minutes, and along the way our guide pointed out different neighborhoods, telling us bits of Swedish history that we never would have learned on our own. The approach to the palace itself was absolutely breathtaking the symmetry of the gardens and the way the building sits by the water made for a stunning first impression.
This business has charged us for a tour we did not take. We have tried numerous times to work with Viator and this comapny without any success and have had to go to our bank to keep our money from being stolen. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

You asked to change pick up time to earlier less then 24 hours. We offered you 12:00 noon earliest but this time slot didn't fit your new itinerary also. The place is beautiful and eorth seeing, This was an expensive way of visiting it. The tour was less than 3 hours including the commute. Be aware the entrance tickets are not included. The tour guide recommended we take the tour to the theather (recommended). We also had to pay for it. The explanation of the tour guide of the main palace was rushed and short because we had the test get your scheduled.
