De food tour begint bij Apollo Bagels, één van de populairste bagel winkels in het East Village. Hier proberen we een handgerolde bagel in New Yorkse stijl met een uitstrijkje roomkaas.
De volgende is S'Mac, een East Village instelling die al meer dan 20 jaar bestaat. Ze zijn gespecialiseerd in één ding en slechts één ding: mac & cheese. Dit is ook niet je gemiddelde mac & cheese, het is het echte werk en het beste in de stad. Hier proef je een aantal van hun beroemde mac & cheese, een all-American klassieker.
De volgende eetstop is East Village Meat Market, een Oekraïense slagerij en echte buurtinstelling. Hier proef je hun huisgemaakte pierogi naast kielbasa en kabanosworst met pittige mosterd. Het is een van de laatste winkels in zijn soort in New York City, en een heerlijke smaak van het Oost-Europese erfgoed van de East Village.
De volgende stop is Titi's Empanadas, een familiebedrijf dat de smaken van Venezuela naar het East Village brengt. Hier proef je een handgemaakte empanada met een gouden, knapperige schaal en gedurfde, smaakvolle vullingen.
De tour voert je ook door St. Mark's Place, een van de meest legendarische straten in New York City en het culturele hart van de East Village. Ooit was dit de thuisbasis van punkrockers, dichters en artiesten, maar dit iconische stuk van drie blokken bruist nog steeds van energie, muziek en persoonlijkheid.
De tour neemt je ook mee langs het iconische gebouw dat op de cover van Led Zeppelins album Physical Graffiti uit 1975 staat. Deze bezienswaardigheid in East Village, gelegen aan St. Mark's Place, is ook verschenen in de muziekvideo "Waiting on a Friend" van de Rolling Stones en is een must-see voor elke muziekliefhebber die New York City bezoekt.
De tour brengt je ook langs Porto Rico Importing Co., een van de oudste coffeeshops in New York City. Deze iconische plek, opgericht in 1907, heeft zakken versgebrande bonen hoog opgestapeld en de rijke geur van koffie in de lucht. Je krijgt de kans om binnen te stappen en een kop koffie of een zak bonen te kopen om mee naar huis te nemen.
Geen East Village food tour is compleet zonder een plak klassieke New Yorkse stijl pizza, en Cello's Pizzeria levert precies dat. Hier proef je een dun en knapperig stuk kaaspizza in New Yorkse stijl, dat werd uitgeroepen tot de #14 beste pizza in de VS.
Vervolgens lopen we langs McSorley's Old Ale House, een van de oudste continu werkende bars in New York City. Deze iconische plek, geopend in 1854, heeft zaagsel op de vloeren, muren bedekt met meer dan een eeuw memorabilia en slechts twee bieren op het menu (licht of donker).
We eindigen de tour in The Donut Pub, een van New Yorks oudste donutplekken waar al meer dan 60 jaar verse, handgemaakte donuts worden geserveerd. Hier kun je een selectie van hun best verkochte donuts proberen, met de hand geplukt door je Gids.

Ryan is fantastic!! Great stops. Great food. Great conversation. Ryan hit every aspect you are looking for in an exceptional food tour. He had the story of the area. He knew the story of the restaurant. He knew the people. They knew him. It was very much like being taken around by an old friend and meeting all their new friends… who just happen to be remarkable restauranteurs. We had a blast and already booked another tour. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend you book a tour. Just be sure to wear comfortable and bring your appetite!

Tour was great, all the food was really good and the tour guide was very informative. My wife and I had our 1 month old baby and we are extremely thankful for how understanding and helpful the tour guide Meri was in making sure that we could participate.
Bringing a one month old on a food tour is impressive, congratulations to you both. Meri will be really glad to hear you felt taken care of, she works hard to make sure everyone can settle in and enjoy the stops. Lovely tour. Meri was so gracious in telling us all about what we were eating, the neighborhoods, the cafes. We tried 7 places in 2.5 hours, most of which I would have never tried on my own. Highly recommended
