Dagtocht naar Essaouira, het voormalige Mogador gebouwd op een rotsachtig schiereiland, met zijn wallen die waken over de oceaan, zijn medina in witte en blauwe tinten, zijn drukke haven en zijn lange zandstranden. De geschiedenis van Essaouira gaat terug tot de 8e eeuw voor Christus. De Feniciërs stopten daar op de weg van de evenaar. De echte stichter van de stad was de Alaouitische sultan Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, die de bouw toevertrouwde aan Theodore Cornut, architect en student van Vauban Essaouira is nu een leuke kleine vissershaven die erg levendig is bij de aankomst van de boten waar sardines en schaaldieren worden verkocht op de veiling. Op de dokken repareren vissers de rode netten. Geniet van de sardine die buiten wordt gegrild in de kleine restaurants van de haven en ontdek vervolgens de Sqala du Port, een met kantelen omgeven bastion dat is gebouwd om de haven en de stad te beschermen. Het bestaat uit twee versterkte vleugels achter de marinepoort. Verlaat de haven Sqala en ga het Moulay Hassan-plein binnen.

Moses and Allez si brahim were a fantastic guide and driver. The tour was very smooth and easy with lots of communication. Khalid Oubram was excellent. Besides the outstanding facilities( new air conditioned car) he was more than helpful with my predicament. I forgot my wallet at one stop, and he was the one to mobilise everything in order for ny walket to be found. And thank god, it was. Thank you Khalid .
