Deze tour neemt ons mee, samen met een lokale gids, om het echte Padua te ontdekken. We maken een wandeling door de stad om de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden en monumenten te ontdekken. We zullen Prato della Valle zien, de basiliek van Sant'Antonio of "Il Santo", de bestemming van miljoenen pelgrims per jaar en een romantische mix van stijlen en culturen uit alle hoeken van de wereld. Langs de geplaveide straatjes en middeleeuwse arcades bereiken we het kloppende hart van het historische centrum. We zullen het oude getto van de stad zien, dat met zijn smalle straatjes en clubs een ontmoetingsplaats is geworden voor jonge studenten. Dan de pleinen, Piazza delle Erbe en Piazza della Frutta met uitzicht op het Palazzo della Ragione en vaak opgefleurd door de marktkraampjes en het wemelen van mensen onder de “Salone”. We zullen Piazza dei Signori bereiken, een ontmoetingsplaats voor Paduans bij een aperitief en ooit het huis van de Heren van de stad. Palazzo Bo zetel van de Universiteit van Padua. We sluiten de tour af met een "Padovana" proeverij

Prato della Valle, het grootste plein in de stad Padua en een van de grootste van Europa, dat met zijn 78 standbeelden een album is van de belangrijke persoonlijkheden van Padua.
De basiliek van Sant'Antonio of "Il Santo" is de bestemming van miljoenen pelgrims per jaar, een romantische mix van stijlen en culturen uit alle hoeken van de wereld.
Ten zuiden van de Piazza delle Erbe vormt een labyrint van smalle straatjes het Joodse getto, dat sinds 1603 actief is en in 1797 werd afgeschaft, het jaar waarin, onder druk van de Franse Revolutie, de Joden vrij en gelijk werden verklaard.
De markt bevindt zich in het centrum van de stad, in een groot gebouw genaamd Palazzo della Ragione. In de zogenaamde Overdekte Markt “Sotto il Salone” zijn verschillende gastronomische speciaalzaken waar u allerlei Paduaanse specialiteiten en voortreffelijkheden kunt vinden. Hier vindt u slagers, visverkopers, groenteboeren en vele andere winkels die olie, vlees, kaas en nog veel meer verkopen.
Piazza delle Erbe werd ooit ook wel piazza delle Biade of piazza del Vino genoemd maar ook piazza della Giustizia is een van de vele pleinen die het historische centrum van Padua kenmerken. Eeuwenlang was het met Piazza della Frutta het commerciële centrum van de stad. Een van de grootste markten van Italië vindt plaats op de twee pleinen. In tegenstelling tot Piazza dei Signori, het theater van burgerlijke vieringen, was Piazza delle Erbe de plaats van populaire vieringen. Het plein wordt gedomineerd door het enorme Palazzo della Ragione, onderdeel van het grote Palazzo Comunale.
Piazza della Frutta, ooit ook Piazza del Peronio genoemd, is een van de vele pleinen die het historische centrum van Padua kenmerken. Eeuwenlang was het, met Piazza delle Erbe, het commerciële centrum van de stad. Een van de grootste markten van Italië vindt plaats op de twee pleinen. Het plein wordt gedomineerd door het enorme Palazzo della Ragione, onderdeel van het grote Palazzo Comunale en de Torre degli Anziani.
Palazzo Bo-zetel van de Universiteit van Padua, opgericht in 1222, is de historische zetel van de Universiteit van Padua. Het herbergt nog steeds het Rectoraat en de School of Law. Het is ook de zetel van het oudste anatomische theater ter wereld.
Ook bekend als het café zonder deuren omdat het vanaf de opening in 1831 tot 1916 dag en nacht open bleef. Hier is het mogelijk om CAFFÈ PEDROCCHI te proeven, de beroemdste muntkoffie ter wereld, die afkomstig is van de perfecte combinatie van 100% Arabica espresso, emulsie van verse room en munt op siroop en een scheutje bittere cacao.

It was a pleasure to spend a few hours in Nico’s company. The tour was very informative, we asked questions and never felt rushed. Nico is very nice and attentive person who loves his city.
