Overall a great half day and memorable experience. I’m glad I went this time. There is a big emphasis on buying souvenirs. After the tour of the house (which was enjoyable), guests return to the main museum to walk through multiple themed areas (his cars, his clothes, his influence on performers’ fashion, his movies and Lisa Marie). Attached to every themed space is another gift shop - overkill I think. I really was expecting a theater to be able to watch perhaps one of his famous concerts. Rather, clips are shown in most areas with just benches in front of the small screens.
We booked the Tupelo tour direct with Graceland as we were staying at the Guest House. Pick up was at the hotel so no hassle to find. It was about 90 minutes to Tupelo. Going into Elvis's birth home was amazing, as was sitting in his church. We wanted a couple of souvenirs and there was a good choice in the shop. We didn't get long enough at the stop to take everything in, which was disappointing. We went to a good court in a mall for lunch, good idea because people can eat what they like. Unfortunately we were there far too long, could have been half hour less and added to birthplace instead. We drove around different parts of Tupelo and visited the Hardware Store where Elvis got his first guitar. Then we went to the site of the 1956 concert at Tupelo Fair, I really enjoyed that. The reason I dropped a star for the guide was he slept most of the way there and back! The worst part though was the driver, Rex, who in our opinion should not be driving. He ate, drank and yawned all the way, cut lorries up, ignored the bus telling him to reduce speed countless times and kept drifting over the rumble strip. The worst part, it rained heavy and visibility was very poor, he did not slow down and even he commented to the guide that we were 'sliding around' on the road. He also hit the brakes so hard that everyone and all their belongings shot forward. We did not feel safe and it spoiled the day. I wish had told the staff at reception when we returned but we just had a drink to calm down instead.
Paid extra for the ultimate VIP tour and it was worth every penny! Our guide Michelle was awesome! Definitely plan to spend the day. The staff every where we went was friendly.
One of the best tours and places to go was Tupelo booked through Graceland itself. It was a beautiful place and a lot too see, the tributes to Elvis all over the place was a must see and very peaceful. My partner and I had the best tour guides and were very knowledgeable. There is a nice gift shop there also with lots of unique things. It’s an all Day tour and well worth it if you’re an Elvis fan.
On a tour with lots of friends, we stopped to see Elvis Presley birthplace . It was very interesting and anyone an Elvis fan it’s a must. We watched a movie that told us about the church and home that he lived in. Walked around park and read all there is to know about Elvis. What you should know is it’s not a tourist trap. Does not cost much. Your on your own and can read and find plot of history. Really enjoyed this stop.
That's all you expect is much more. You still learn a lot about the King's history. From costumes to the plane Elvis used.
Absolutely amazing experience. Would highly recommend doing the UVIP Archives tour, we got to hold an item of his jewellery plus see a lot more of the archives behind the scenes. The place was just as I imagined it would be and our tour guide was very informative and funny. Another bucket list dream tour ticked off!
If you’re in Memphis, it’s definitely worth a trip. Graceland (Elvis’s home) is interesting to visit, although the admission price is fairly high.
Visiting Graceland was a memorable experience and a real highlight of our trip through the southern states. As Elvis fans, it felt very special to walk through his home and see so much history preserved. The mansion itself is not as grand as some may expect, but that is part of its charm. It felt personal and gave a real insight into Elvis’ life and personality. Seeing the famous Jungle Room, his costumes, awards and personal items made the visit feel authentic and nostalgic. The grounds and exhibits were well organised, and the audio tour was informative and easy to follow. We particularly enjoyed learning more about Elvis’ career, family life and legacy. Paying respects at the Meditation Garden was also a moving part of the visit. The complex was busy, which is understandable given its popularity, and some areas felt quite commercial with the gift shops and additional attractions. Food and souvenirs were also on the expensive side. Overall, Graceland is definitely worth visiting, especially for Elvis fans or anyone interested in music history. It offered a unique glimpse into the life of an icon and created memories we will treasure.
We did the VIP tour pkg. had the BEST day! Being an Elvis fan this tour was a dream come true. A must for everyone of every age. Tons to see and experience. Easily spent 5+ hours there and it passed so quick.
