Ervaar een perfecte dag van zon, zee & cultuur! Geniet van bijna 5 uur puur ontspannen zwemmen en zonnebaden aan zee, terwijl we je meenemen naar twee van de meest iconische stranden van Griekenland - Elafonisi en Falasarna - allemaal op één onvergetelijke dag. We beginnen onze reis bij Elafonisi, de meest adembenemende bestemming van de dag. Duik in ondiep turquoise water, wandel langs zachtroze zand en verken de exotische lagunes, ideaal zelfs voor kinderen. Vervolgens gaan we westwaarts naar het prachtige Falasarna Beach, een lokale favoriet die bekend staat om zijn kristalheldere turquoise zee en brede, witte zandstrand – perfect om te ontspannen onder de zon. Onze laatste stop is het traditionele dorp Vouves, waar we de oudste olijfboom ter wereld bezoeken en genieten van een proeverij van pure Kretenzische extra vergine olijfolie – een echte smaak van het erfgoed van het eiland. Voor de zuidwestelijke punt van Kreta, ongeveer 75 kilometer van de stad Chania, ligt het strand van Elafonisi en een klein eiland. Het is op loopafstand van het vasteland, soms zelfs zonder dat je tenen nat worden. Het werd ooit gebruikt door piraten om hun buit (lafyra) te verbergen en zo kreeg het zijn naam. Het eiland (ongeveer 1,3 km lang en 400 meter breed) is een beschermd natuurgebied en heeft een van de mooiste zandstranden van het land. Bovendien is Elafonisi de enige Griekse mededinger op een Tripadvisor-lijst van de 25 beste stranden ter wereld voor 2014. Dit is te verwachten: verblindend witroze zand, turkooiswitte lagune-achtige wateren die kabbelen als ze de wind oppikken , een exotische plek met sporadische vegetatie tegen de grimmige kaalheid van de Kretenzische bergen. Ontdek op het eiland talloze kleine baaien, zandstranden en interessante rotsformaties. Het is ook de thuisbasis van 110 plantensoorten, waaronder de beschermde Androcymbium rechingeri, die zo zeldzaam is als het klinkt.
Het strand van Falasarna ligt in het westelijke deel van Kreta, ongeveer 53 km van de stad Chania en 13 km van de stad Kissamos. Heel populair bij dagjesmensen, de prachtige stranden en de heldere turkooisblauwe zee zijn uniek. Het heeft vele onderscheidingen ontvangen voor zijn schoonheid, voorzieningen en diensten waarvan de bezoeker geniet. Het lange zandstrand is een van de belangrijkste voordelen, omdat het de bezoekers de kans biedt om ervan te genieten, zelfs in het hoogseizoen. Zwemmen in het kristalheldere turquoise water van het strand, zal iedereen het ultieme plezier bezorgen. Het strand is volledig georganiseerd met parasols en ligbedden in het grootste deel. Er zijn echter verschillende vrije plekken voor degenen die liever hun eigen paraplu en handdoek op het zand leggen. Wat het meest indruk op u zal maken, is de charmante en unieke zonsondergang, een van de mooiste in Griekenland. De zonsondergang daar is echt indrukwekkend, want er is niets dat je gezichtsveld tussen het strand en de horizon belemmert.
De olijfboom van Vouves is waarschijnlijk een van de oudste olijfbomen ter wereld, die tot op de dag van vandaag productief blijft. De exacte leeftijd van de boom kan niet worden bepaald. Hoewel boomringanalyse aantoonde dat de boom minstens 2000 jaar oud was, schatten wetenschappers van de Universiteit van Kreta hem op 4000 jaar oud. In 1997 werd het uitgeroepen tot beschermd natuurmonument en in oktober 2009 werd het Olijfboommuseum van Vouves ingehuldigd in een nabijgelegen 19e-eeuws huis, met traditionele gereedschappen die worden gebruikt in het proces van de olijventeelt. Vanaf de Olympische Spelen in Athene in 2004 werden olijftakken "kotinos" van deze oude olijfboom gebruikt voor de krans van marathonwinnaars in elk olympisch spel. Elk jaar bezoeken meer dan 20.000 mensen van over de hele wereld deze eeuwenoude boom.

Christina and Kostas are the best for this tour! The drive is a little rough with the winding road to get to Elafonissi but Kostas is a very good driver and Christina was well prepared with anyone that might have motion sickness during the drive. The first beach is beautiful and is a great spot to be early in the day before all the busses start to drop off other travelers with just enough time there to enjoy the beach and leave before the crowds really show up. Lunch provided was just what you need to make it through the day. Christina was nice enough to walk our small group down to make sure everyone knew when and how long it takes to get back from the drop off point. Fallasarna was a much better beach experience, water is deeper, you can swim freely, the water actually feels like you’re in the ocean with waves and a walk up beach bar that has drinks and food. The last part visiting the ancient olive tree in vouves was the perfect way to end the trip, I had previously visited the tree but Christina is very well versed in the history and importance of the tree that filled a lot of gaps that my other guide missed and had a lot more information about the whole culture of olive trees in Crete that was very pleasant way to end the day before the short drive back to Chania. Wonderful day! Great trip I’d recommend to everyone to do this if you’re just getting into Crete!

The trip was very well organised from start to finish. The pick up was correct and on time, we were met by our bright guide Eleni and the skillful driver Kostas that took us on a trip around western Crete through history, traditions, local customs, etc. Elafonisi beach is truly breathtakingly beautiful and we enjoyed it whilst also enjoying the snackbox of local food prepared by Eleni and Kostas for us. We also had portable sunbeds and umbrellas provided for every beach we visited, so you don't have to pay the daily fee at the local beach bars. Finally, we visited the oldest olive tree and had a nice olive oil tasting session whilst learning Greek. Overall, an amazing experience, would definitely recommend to try it. You'll learn a lot from Eleni and Kostas, besides a really good driver, also takes great pictures.

The communication and organisation of the tour was immaculate (chef's kiss), and they picked us up and dropped us off near the hotel we were staying at, which was so convenient. The blanket, parasol for the beach was thoughtful and snackbox with cold drinks were nice and yummy. Our tour guide Elani was informative and kind throughout the trip and the driver Kostas was the best drives so smoothly. Highly recommend!

Undoubtedly, both beaches were marvelous! Having a mix of calm waters and waves made for a fantastic itinerary that kept our days exciting and varied. Incredible day thanks to the great guide Eleni and the outstanding driver Kostas. Thanks to them for this beautiful discovery of Cretan history and traditions. The sites visited are breathtakingly beautiful, the olive oil tasting was amazing, and the packed lunch was excellent. The minibus is very well equipped, we felt comfortable in it.

Wonderful day out. Very organised and on time. Provided beach mats, umbrellas, and a cooler with snack and refreshments. Visited two very beautiful beaches with plenty of time to relax and swim and then a great little stop at the world’s oldest olive tree. Eleni and kostas were great.
