Efeze was een oude Grieks-Romeinse stad aan de Ionische kust, drie kilometer ten zuidwesten van het hedendaagse Selçuk in de provincie Izmir, Turkije. De Efeze-tour omvat de ruïnes van de oude stad Efeze die op de UNESCO Werelderfgoedlijst staan. De stad zelf en de ruïnes liggen allemaal naast een vruchtbare vallei. Ooit een commercieel centrum van de antieke wereld, een religieus centrum van het vroege christendom. Efeze was een van de best bewaarde oude steden met zijn schat-odeon, Tempel van Domitianus, Romeinse baden, openbare toiletten, Hercules-poort ter wereld en een hoogtepunt van elk bezoek aan Turkije. Bezoek het Huis van de Maagd Maria, waar ze haar laatste dagen doorbrengt met haar fonteinen en verlangensmuur. Tempel van Artemis (panoramisch), een van de zeven wonderen van de antieke wereld. Tijdens de lunch krijgt u de gelegenheid om de voortreffelijke Turkse keuken te proberen. Aan de andere kant heb je ook traditionele winkelmogelijkheden voor sieraden-, leer- of keramiekcentra.

The one day tour to explore the old city of Ephesus and the House of Virgin Mary is great, however some points can still be improved: 1) more clear explanation & more interactive communication from the the tour guide, 2) more time to explore the old city of Ephesus, since the admission tickets fee has already been expensive.

Very informative tour - I learned things about the history of Turkey, Izmir and Ephesus. The Virgin Mary's house (VMH) was a must see for me when I planned the trip. It was challenging finding a tour from Izmir not catered to Cruise tourists and one that included VMH. This tour checked off all the boxes for me and delivered on everything plus more. Alperen, the tour guide was amazing, connected with and engaged the group well, managed the time well and nothing was rushed. He even provided recommendations for my impromptu stop at Izmir city and guidance for my way back to the airport after my city visit. John, our driver was great on the road.

I did tour with Erman for two days (Pamukkale and Ephesus) and the Erman was excellent guide. He has a knowledge and explains very well. Excellent tour guide and I recommend to all! The tour schedule was well arranged though I wish I didn’t stop by the stores. I prefer to return early rather than shopping. But this is my preference. Only thing it could be better was food in Ephesus.

On our second day in Izmir, we were fortunate to have Erman Uslu as our guide, who once again, with his friendliness and kindness, provided us with the historical details of the city of Ephesus, including the most relevant aspects of its culture, traditions, and geography. He also narrated the history of the House of the Virgin Mary and what remains of the Temple of Artemis. He absolutely transparently shared the beauty of this part of Turkey and its people. A special greeting to our driver Aykut, who with his experience provided us with a calm and safe journey. Absolutely recommendable the tour and the company.
