Laat een historicus je tijdens deze privéwandeling van 3 uur door een aantal van de belangrijkste religieuze en culturele bezienswaardigheden van de stad leiden. Zowel vertrek als vertrek in de ochtend zijn beschikbaar voor dit fascinerende uitje. Ontdek essentiële bezienswaardigheden zoals de synagoge aan de Dohány-straat - de grootste synagoge van Europa - evenals kleinere gebedshuizen en voormalige joodse getto's, terwijl je gids fascinerende verhalen vertelt en een historische context biedt.

Verken de Dohány Street Synagogue, de grootste tempel van Europa, met de hulp van een Joodse Studies Scholar. Geniet van de weelderige, Moorse Revival-stijl voordat je de Tempel van Helden, het Joods Museum en een Memorial Park bezoekt, allemaal binnen het complex.

Sluit af met het betalen van onze eer bij de Shoes on the Donau Bank, een gedenkteken opgericht op 16 april 2005 ter ere van de Joden die hier tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog zijn afgeslacht. Ze kregen de opdracht hun schoenen uit te doen en werden aan de rand van het water neergeschoten, zodat hun lichamen in de rivier vielen en werden weggevoerd. Het stelt hun schoenen voor die op de bank zijn achtergelaten.

Je gids zal je ontmoeten in je centrale hotel of flat en je groep leiden met de metro, tram of te voet (wanneer de locaties dichtbij zijn). Tickets worden verstrekt als je geen pas hebt. We zullen schrijven om uw adres op te vragen wanneer we u de telefoon en foto van uw gids sturen. Als je niet wilt worden opgehaald of niet reageert met een adres, ontmoet je je gids 10 minuten voor de starttijd op het standaard ontmoetingspunt: Cafe Synago Kavehaz, voorheen bekend als Cafe Zenit, Dohany utca 1/A

Borsca gave us a wonderful tour through the Jewish Quarter starting with the Dohany Synagogue. We went through the Synagogue with a tour which included its history past and present with our tour ending by walking through the Quarter. Along the way we saw evidence of the past, good and bad and along the way learnt about the history of some families through the 20th Century. A few hours well spent.

We had a wonderful and informative tour with our tour guide Andrew. He is truly passionate about Jewish culture and history and has great knowledge about everything we saw on the tour. Additionally, he did a great job keeping the 2 teen and pre-teen boys in our group interesting and entertaining throughout the walking tour. At the end of the tour, we went to a Jewish restaurant for lunch that he recommended and it was awesome too!

We had the pleasure of touring Budapest Day One with Endre this past summer. Budapest was absolutely amazing… but it was Endre (and Kata – see her review) who truly brought it to life for us. His knowledge of the city and its history – indeed, the history of Hungary and Europe in general – was superb. It was as if we were getting private university level tutoring. More than just Endre’s deep knowledge about everything, was his passion as a tour guide. His most important goal was for us to have fun. And fun we had. Budapest was one adventure after another. As we delved into it, we realized that there were certain areas we wanted to spend more time on at the expense of others. Endre had no problem rerouting our tour as we went. He was very flexible and really went with the flow. In short, Endre was warm, outgoing, hilarious, easy to talk to and listen to, energetic, knowledgeable, and just a great human being. Andras, our excellent, thoughtful and well informed guide led us on two 3-hour tours over two days drilling down into the historical significance and history buried in the old city of Budapest first then the second day focusing more upon the Jewish history, synagogues, and the relationships between the Jews and the Hungarian state. Andras easily captured our attention and imagination as we walked and enjoyed learning from his articulate and committed command of both local and historical references. To summarize, he provided a priceless value to our trip. The highest of recommendations!!
