Great day with our guide Joy. She took us to see everything we wanted and more! She helped negotiate great prices.
Great day with Joy. She took us exactly where we wanted to go. She helped negotiate prices. She was a pleasure to spend the day with.
We booked a private tour guide to take us to the Chatuchak weekend market on a Saturday. Mrs. Joy was the tour guide who picked us up in our hotel lobby and a short walk to the light rail train. We communicated with the tour company what we were looking to shop for so she already had an idea of where to take us. I can’t say how grateful we were to have a Thai tour guide who spoke English. The market is 15,000 stalls broken into different sections by what you’re looking for however it is quite overwhelming as a foreigner that does not speak Thai to navigate. Mrs. Joy didn’t waste any time taking us first to a currency exchange. We chose to use (super rich) which had the best rate. Then onto the market, checking off the list of items we had selected to look for. I would suggest having pictures of specific items you were looking for with corresponding price we were looking for a wooden lunchbox set that the vendor was much higher than the online price, but ended up coming down after we negotiated and showed her the online price. I would also recommend anyone looking for quality handmade Thai products to stop by Vocational Promotion Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhor. I have to say that was our favorite store and the prices were very reasonable for the quality, like hand woven blankets, hand made baskets, other accessories, like purses. Plus, it gives back to women trying to come out of poverty. We also chose to skip the tourist food court and go across the street to where the Thai people eat, and the food was amazing. It was also the largest fruit market I have ever been to having fruit from all over Southeast Asia and amazing fruit from Thailand. Again, I wish we would have met Miss Joy earlier because we would’ve booked her for other tours. She was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about customs and cultures. She loves history and teaching about Thailand and could not say enough about the amazing day that she provided for us. We spent about four hours at the market and that was a lot, but well worth it an experience like no other.
Alex was great in identifying a professional tailor and then accompanying us to ICONSIAM Mall. He was patient and knowledgeable and willing to go anywhere we wanted.
Makes shopping soooooo much easier. Ma Aom was a wonderful guide, knew where to go and gave great advice!
Thank you Nutty for a great day shopping. I was able to show her a list of item I wanted to purchase, including pokemon cards written in Thai. Nutty not only found the best place to buy the cards, she lead us to several other locations to complete my entire list of purchases. She translated and negotiated for us! If you're the slightest bit apprehensive shopping on your own, this service is worth the reassurance.
Thank you for a great day, Nutty. We were met promptly at our hotel. Upon meeting us, Nutty asked us questions to assess the best locations to purchase what we were looking for. My first request was for Thai and Japanese pokemon cards for our grandson. Nutty immediately suggested a toy store mall. Her suggestion was perfect. She lead us throughout the day to the market, and we were able to purchase everything on our list!
Five stars to Pu of Thai Tour Guides! My intention was to take me to the places that I had on my list. But Pu made it into a tour of Bangkok while still accomplishing the shopping. She showed me the different facets of the city while traveling on different modes of transportation: Hilton’s boat, canal boat, Sky Train, Subway, tuktuk. That gave me unique experiences of how people move around the city. We also went to different markets - Chinatown, Indian Market, JJ Market, Old Siam Mall. All the time she asked if I was ok (since I had just flown in that morning and guided me across safely on busy streets with motorcycles and cars that don’t slow down. She also took me to the best local places to get great food. I really appreciated all that she did during the 5 hours. It gave me unforgettable memories of Thailand.
My personal shopper listened to what I wanted to shop for and was easy to connect with. She was kind, honest, caring and helpful. I would highly recommend her (Joy).
We loved it, both us and our 16-year-old children, it is a country where you can move freely at your leisure, with confidence and a feeling of security. The meals are very good, warning that they are not "spicy". Everything is very cheap and very nice and different, the people are lovely. You have to haggle on everything, that's hard, and negotiate taxis before you get in or have them put on the taxi meter, which they don't like.
