We were treated to a welcome refreshment and an amazing charcuterie board, prawns with savory rice for dinner, and a wonderful dessert of fresh fruit and custard. The meal was delicious and his home inviting. Joao and Matt are wonderful and gracious hosts, Joao a great chef, and the conversation was engaging and lively. Having the opportunity to dine in a private home while on vacation was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend!

What a wonderful, gracious host and chef! It was an evening filled with good food and conversation. The wine selection was perfectly paired with the main dish of duck ham, rice, tomato and spinach.

Joao was an incredible host! He warmly welcomed us to his home with open arms, and he wined and dined us all evening. Not only was he a gracious host, but he is an accomplished chef who created a fantastic meal. His friends Sylvia and Pedro also dropped in, and they were an amazing and entertaining couple who shared the evening with us. We learned so much about the city of Porto and the countries of Portugal and Brazil, and they all facilitated connections that bring people together to make the world a smaller place. João was the perfect host. Every detail was well thought out, including the music, which always sets the mood! The appetizers, dinner, wine, and of course, the conversation all made for an amazing evening. It’s a fun way to meet new people and learn about each others’ backgrounds and experiences. This was one of our favorite memories of our trip, and we left having made some new friends.
