Deze ervaring gaat verder dan data en bezienswaardigheden om Parijs te verkennen door middel van beleefde geschiedenis, gemeenschap en aanwezigheid. In plaats van zich te concentreren op één verhaal, verbindt de tour Afrikaanse, Caribische, Zwarte Amerikaanse en diasporische verhalen over buurten heen, en laat zien hoe het zwarte leven de stad op zichtbare en subtiele manieren heeft helpen vormen. De ervaring biedt ruimte voor gesprek, reflectie en context terwijl we door gebieden reizen die de meeste bezoekers nooit in één verhaal verbinden. Van winkels, restaurants en bezienswaardigheden, gasten vertrekken niet alleen geïnformeerd, maar met een nieuwe relatie tot Parijs.

We beginnen bij het historische literaire café Les Deux Magots voor een meet and greet. Gasten genieten van een licht Frans ontbijt inbegrepen bij de tour terwijl ze leren over de plaats van het café in het Parijse intellectuele leven en de connectie met zwarte schrijvers die in de stad woonden en werkten. Dit is een kans om te settelen, de groep te ontmoeten en de context voor de komende dag te bepalen.
We stoppen bij Présence Africaine, een monumentale boekhandel en uitgeverij opgericht in 1949 die een centrale rol heeft gespeeld in het Afrikaanse en diasporische intellectuele leven in Parijs. Hier leren gasten over de invloed ervan op schrijvers, denkers en bewegingen die Afrika, het Caribisch gebied en Europa verbonden, en waarom deze ruimte vandaag de dag nog steeds belangrijk is.
We stoppen in La Rhumerie, een historisch rumhuis opgericht in 1932 met wortels in het Franse Caribisch gebied. Hier leren gasten over de culturele en economische banden tussen Parijs en het Caribisch gebied.
In Pigalle verkennen we een wijk die ooit gevormd werd door zwarte artiesten, podia en culturele uitwisseling in het begin van de 20e eeuw. Gasten leren hoe muziek, nachtleven en migratie dit gebied transformeerden en waarom het een belangrijke rol speelde in de zwarte Parijse geschiedenis.
Vervolgens reizen we naar La Goutte d’Or, een levendige wijk gevormd door Afrikaanse gemeenschappen. Wandelend door de lokale straten en marktgebieden ervaren gasten het dagelijks leven terwijl ze leren hoe deze wijk een cultureel en commercieel centrum in Parijs werd.
We eindigen in een Afrikaans restaurant, waar gasten tijd hebben om te ontspannen, na te denken en hoogtepunten van de dag te delen. Deze laatste stop biedt een gemeenschappelijk einde aan de ervaring.

This walking tour exploring Black Paris was absolutely excellent. I enjoyed it so much. The guide was very knowledgeable and took us to some great places. It was interesting to see pictures and places I had read about. To walk in a store knowing that historical figures had visited the same place was awesome. We ended the tour at a fabulous restaurant with great food and great conversation. I would recommend this trip to anyone.
Knight was terrific! This is not our first trip to Paris and Knight opened our eyes to stories and histories we had not previously heard! Don’t be afraid of the 6 hours, Knight paced the tour nicely with times for walking and times to sit, refresh, and reflect! We would highly recommend!!!
I did this tour with a friend early/mid February 2026. This tour was fantastic. The tour guide is of African American/Jamaican heritage and has lived in Paris for a few years. He is extremely knowledgable and cares deeply about educating us on Black American history and African history as it pertains to Paris. The tour started off with a delicious breakfast at a historic eatery, followed by visiting a black owned book store and rum house. Following this, you go to the old locations of the club/ restaurants of prolific African Americans such as Josephine Baker and others. The guide does a great job of walking you through the history. My favorite part of the trip was going to little Africa in the 18th arrondissement to get an authentic African feel and see a different side of Paris. We went to a welcoming Mailian/Egypian owned bakery with an award wining baguette and shopping at a Congolese-owned clothing and jewelry store. The end of the tour is capped off with a visit to a delicious Malian restaurant. The tour is all day and is a lot of walking. The guide makes the entire experience seamless with train passes. I highly recommend. i would even do it again.
Our tour guide Knight was the absolute best! We were in Paris during the unprecedented heat wave and we almost didn’t notice, almost :-). Knight was very knowledgeable about the Black Diaspora in Paris and made sure we stopped for frequent water breaks. We learned so much and we haven’t stopped talking about all the “Aha” and “Wow” moments that we had during the tour. Thanks, Knight!! This was a very active tour that required lots of walking, taking the city bus and the metro to visit various neighborhoods, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes.
One of the best tours I've ever taken. My Guide, Night, was incredibly knowledgeable. The pace was perfect. I not only gained a much better understanding and appreciation of the Black experience in Paris, but he also showed me how to navigate the city's transportation system.
The tour guide Knight, curated a very informative experience. The tour highlighted contributions of Black intellectuals, performers, writers, activists and restauranteurs and their rich multifaceted legacy. Coming away from the experience, my perspective has been enriched and balanced, since as an African American woman, the stories about Blacks in Paris have been told from a very singular point of view. Highly recommended!!
This was one of the highlights of the entire trip. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and went out his way to interact and answer everyone’s questions. I would recommend this tour to everyone visiting Paris.
