Tijdens onze Sants food tour zullen we veel van deze buurtinstellingen bezoeken, zowel oude als nieuwe, en een voorproefje krijgen van hoe het leven in Barcelona was voordat de stad de mondiale hotspot werd die het nu is. We beginnen met een stevig ontbijt in de onlangs gerestaureerde Mercat de Sants – in bedrijf sinds 1913 – en proeven wat de verkopers binnen te bieden hebben. Terwijl we door de buurt lopen, komen we langs enkele van de vele voedingswinkels en restaurants, zowel oude als nieuwe, waar we geliefde gerechten proeven van menu's die veranderen afhankelijk van het seizoen. Onderweg stoppen we bij oude bodega's en bars om te genieten van wat vermut met tapas tussen de wijnvaten en bij kleine bakkerijen en chocoladewinkels voor handgemaakte zoetigheden.
We verlaten Sants echter niet zonder een bezoek aan een van de meest unieke sociale en culturele projecten van de buurt, een gigantische textielfabriek uit de 19e eeuw die na tientallen jaren van onbruik door de lokale bevolking is omgetoverd tot een bruisend cultureel centrum – een die dat zelfs nog heeft gedaan. een eigen bar en microbrouwerij. Onder het genot van een drankje en nog meer hapjes Sants-eten leren we over de geschiedenis van gemeenschapsorganisatie in Sants en wat deze buurt zo speciaal maakt. Het komt immers niet elke dag voor dat je de kans krijgt om off-the-grid te gaan terwijl je nog steeds in het hart van de stad bent.

We were a group of 3 with a fantastic guide who shared the history of Sants and the foods Catalonian’s eat daily. Well organized as All of the stops were waiting for us with tables set! Our guide served us portions from the market, specialty cheese, meats and chocolates with complete explanations of their heritage and importance in Catalonia diet. We were never rushed, and questions were welcomed. A great experience eating and drinking through Sants!

What a wonderful experience!! I can't say enough about this 1/2 day off the grid food tour. We started our vacation with it learning so much about the city and the history. Sema was such a wonderful guide; she was so knowledgable and fun and it made for a great day! We enjoyed every minute of the tour with her. We loved being in a section of the city we otherwise may not have visited.

This tour was incredible! Our tour guide Guilluame was awesome! He showed us a side of Barcelona that we never would have seen if we didn't do the tour. He was extremely knowledgeable about food, history, and the neighborhood. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious and my shellfish allergy was easily accommodated. Easily one of the best and most unique experiences we have had traveling.
