Edinburgh : Loch Ness, Glencoe en de Hooglanden

Mythische beesten, sterke verhalen en dramatische landschappen: verken de schoonheid van Schotland in één dag tijdens deze eendaagse bustour. We vertrekken vanuit Edinburgh en rijden in noordwestelijke richting langs beroemde bezienswaardigheden zoals Linlithgow Palace: de geboorteplaats van Mary Queen of Scots, de mystieke Kelpies en het dramatisch hoog gelegen Stirling Castle. We gaan verder naar het noorden en komen aan in Glencoe voor enkele foto's van de dramatische bergkammen die de Three Sisters worden genoemd. We stoppen in de omgeving van Fort William voor de lunch voordat we de natuurlijke schoonheid van de Great Glen betreden terwijl we de hoogste berg van Groot-Brittannië, Ben Nevis, passeren. Als we verder de hooglanden in trekken, komen we aan in het kleine pittoreske dorpje Fort Augustus. Je kunt hier kiezen voor een optionele boottocht. De weg naar huis is tijd om te ontspannen en te genieten van het landschap van de Hooglanden. De laatste verfrissingsstop is in het historische stadje Pitlochry voordat u de reis naar huis vervolgt over de Firth of Forth langs de UNESCO Forth Rail Bridge op weg terug naar Edinburgh.

Onze eerste stop voor verfrissingen en een comfortabele pauze is Callander, waar je de kans krijgt om een hapje te eten en je benen te strekken. Als je geluk hebt, heb je misschien de kans om de Highland Cows te ontmoeten (afhankelijk van het seizoen).
We maken een korte stop in deze schilderachtige locatie om het uitzicht over Loch Tulla en Glen Orchy te genieten
Glencoe, de locatie van het bloedbad van de MacDonald-clan in 1692, is een van de beroemdste glens van Schotland. Hier stap je uit voor een fotomoment met de dramatische noordelijke bergkammen die bekend staan als de Three Sisters
Nabij het halverwege punt stoppen we in het Fort William gebied voor de lunch.
Nog een gelegenheid voor foto's als we stoppen aan de rand van Spean Bridge bij het Commando-monument. Ongeëvenaard uitzicht op Fort William en de hoogste berg van het Verenigd Koninkrijk, de Ben Nevis. Afhankelijk van de timing kan deze halte worden gewijzigd
Een kans om wat te lunchen en deel te nemen aan een optionele Loch Ness Boat cruise. Voor degenen die niet op de cruise zijn, we hebben hier meer dan een uur wat genoeg tijd is om een kopje koffie te pakken en rond te dwalen.
We stoppen in de Victoriaanse badplaats Pitlochry voor een kans om de benen te strekken en wat lichte versnaperingen te pakken voor het laatste deel van de reis naar huis

Great experience! A guided bus tour that takes you to all the sites as advertised. Plus the bus driver in addition to being efficient at driving, is also giving an excellent tour, providing some great stories, history, and music. You don’t have to worry about a thing, you are in good hands Also booked this relatively last minute due to another tour canceling at the last minute (I had booked this almost a year ago). Nonetheless, the tour operator was easily able to confirm me, so I greatly appreciate it
The itinerary was perfect if you want to cover the highlights of Highlands in a day. The stops were well planned with adequate time to take photos, or grab a bite to eat. The coach was comfortable, and the drive was smooth, even on the winding Highland roads. Our guide, Chris, was fantastic. His passion, extensive knowledge of Scottish history, and well chosen music playlist made the journey even more enjoyable. He shared fascinating stories and historical insights throughout the day, bringing each location to life. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Scotland!
I was hesitant to book a 10+ hour bus trip, but I'm so so glad I did. This trip was an unforgettable experience. The bus is very comfortable, and I felt safe the whole time. Chris, our driver and guide, provided fantastic storytelling while being a superb DJ (his dad humor was also painful but in a good way). I didn't think I would be able to see the Scottish Highlands during my quick trip to Edinburgh, so this was such a treat!
Chris is an excellent guide. Very friendly, gives great recommendations, and tells good jokes too. The tour is well-organized, and he provides excellent information throughout. Highly recommended! ⭐️
Chris was super entertaining. On Entertainment: Chris played a really good music selection that enhanced the views from the bus. I'll always remember the 2 minutes going through Glencoe - the music was haunting, the view was moody, the story Chris told us was devasting. It was perfectly done. When it comes to touristy tours - this is indeed on of the better ones. I would skip the loch Ness cruise, though. 22 pounds for 40 minutes actual views isn't really worth it. Overall, if you want to dip your toes into the Highlands and get a fast (and crazy scenic) overview, then this is the tour for you.
Excellent day trip! Comfortable and clean coach. Friendly, knowledgeable and with a great sense of humour driver, and a well-planned itinerary. Everything ran smoothly, and we had a fantastic day. Highly recommended!
