Welkom in de "geboorteplaats van Harry Potter" - Je kunt de prominente slogan boven de ingang van het Elephant House Café niet missen. Hier besteedde JK Rowling veel tijd aan het schrijven van het eerste Harry Potter-boek, en zelfs delen van het tweede en het derde.
Dit is het kerkhof dat je kunt zien vanaf de achterkant van het Elephant House Café, en het wordt verondersteld de inspiratiebron te zijn geweest voor het kerkhof van Little Hangleton in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'. Stap binnen met Jule om al zijn spookachtige attracties te ontdekken en waarom is deze plek zo gerelateerd aan de romans J.K. Rowling schreef.
De graven van Thomas Riddell, Esq. en Thomas Riddell, Esq., Zijn zoon, zijn waarschijnlijk de best bezochte graven in heel Edinburgh. Dit is ironisch, omdat we heel weinig weten over de echte Riddell-familie die hier begraven ligt. Ontdek het verhaal achter dit personage en meer!

Op de muur links van de poorten zie je een zwarte grafsteen met het portret van een man erop. Dit is William Topaz Anderling – ook wel bekend als de slechtste dichter in de Engelstalige geschiedenis. Ontdek waarom dit personage gerelateerd is aan een beroemd Harry Potter-personage
Leer de geschiedenis achter een van de gebouwen die de inspiratie vormden voor Hogwarts, de school van tovenaars, in de geschiedenis van Harry Potter.
Zweinstein wordt ook wel beschreven als een kasteelachtige school, gelegen op de top van een heuvel, met aan één kant een gigantisch meer. Raad eens, Edinburgh Castle is precies zo! Leer de geschiedenis achter het kasteel en zijn relatie met Harry Potter's Hogwarts, nog een opstapje van het verhaal en een must-visit van de attracties van Edinburgh.
De Wegisweg in de boeken wordt beschreven als een geplaveide straat, aan weerszijden omzoomd met gekleurde winkelpuien. Terwijl je door Victoria Street slentert, vertelt Jule je alle geheimen en overeenkomsten tussen beide magische plekken.
Museum Context is de eerste Harry Potter Shop die werd geopend in Edinburgh. Deze winkel is een must-see voor Harry Potter-fans, met als extraatje een geweldige fotomoment op de derde verdieping!
Geniet van het geweldige uitzicht op deze plek terwijl je je het hele verhaal van Harry Potter voor je neus voorstelt.
Dit is onderdeel van de Universiteit van Edinburgh en hier vind je de School of Theology and Divinity. Binnen hebben ze een oude bibliotheek die lijkt op die van Hogwarts, en ze hebben zelfs een grote zaal waar studenten hun maaltijden nuttigen.
Het gebouw met de klokkentoren aan de overkant van de vallei is het Balmoral Hotel, het duurste hotel van Edinburgh. Dit is ook de plek waar JK Rowling klaar was met het schrijven van Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Dit is duidelijk een grote verandering ten opzichte van haar bescheiden begin met schrijven in cafés in de hele stad en benadrukt echt hoeveel Harry Potter haar leven heeft veranderd.
Op de grond zie je enkele gouden handafdrukken – dit zijn de handafdrukken van mensen die de Edinburgh Award hebben gewonnen. Dit is een prijs die sinds 2007 jaarlijks wordt uitgereikt aan iemand die Edinburgh over de hele wereld beroemd heeft gemaakt of de stad op een andere manier positief heeft beïnvloed. In 2008 ging de Award naar JK Rowling, aangezien Edinburgh nu dankzij haar bekend staat als de geboorteplaats van Harry Potter.

It was well laid out. I could have bought only one instead of one per person. We were able to start and stop as the group needed.

A very nice visit experience! We can go at our own pace and do it even in several steps if we wish. Ideal when you like to visit freely, the experience allows you to take a fairly extensive tour of the old town. Voice feedback and explanations on the app are very clear, interesting and well documented. A very good idea to have designed this self-guided tour!

Loved the fact that I could take this tour at my own pace, gave me time to get a coffee when I wanted and look in shops. Two small complaints-the order seems a little chaotic definitely some back and forth whereas it would have been easier to do what’s closer to each other. Second one, if there’s a way to include a map or something at the cemetery-I wasted way too much time trying to find all the stones and still never found all of them. Otherwise I enjoyed it.

It was awesome to be able to wander the streets of Edinburgh and get the bonus addition of all the Harry Potter related facts. We could take our time and detour when we wanted to and pick it back up after. Exactly what we wanted.

Fantastic tour covering all of the city! Saw everything I wanted and more, but the best part was our tour guide, Adam! He is funny, enthusiastic, and he made the whole thing exciting! One of the best tours I’ve been on in the UK and Adam was a huge part of that!

This tour takes you to all the wonderful Harry Potter inspired spots. It has a brief summary at each location followed by directions to the next. However, I would definitely recommend starting at point one as that is where the directions are written from. We tried to do a few out of order and it was very difficult finding certain spots due to the spotty GPS thru Edinburgh. Also the Elephant Shop was under construction and they had a temporary one on Victoria Street. We were not able to go in because it had 45min wait. The tour itself was informative and could be stop and started if you want to go into a shop or spot along the way.

Interesting narration, easy to follow directions. App worked well. Especially liked the cemetery. Wish it included the other Hogwarts school building that served as inspiration but it might be too far away. 👍

This self guided tour is amazing for all Harry Potter fans! It's organized very well, and all of the instructions and the map are correct. The hardest part was following the directions around the graveyard, but I was able to find everything. The map is exceptionally helpful, too! Definitely recommend!
