Durban: Reis langs de Epic Sani Pass & Lesotho Tour

Heb je je paspoort ingepakt? Je gaat tenslotte het Mountain Kingdom op. Op 3 240 meter boven zeeniveau kan het een beetje ijzig worden, dus wikkel jezelf in een van onze authentieke Basotho-dekens die de jouwe is voor de dag. Onze eerste stop is Himeville, aan de voet van de berg, waar je in een ruige 4x4 klimt. Tijd om de steile klim op te gaan over de schilderachtige en ontmoedigende Sani-pas. Krijg je paspoort gestempeld aan de grens en ga naar niemandsland dat Zuid-Afrika met Lesotho verbindt. Zodra je Lesotho binnengaat, laat je gids je kennismaken met een Basotho-dorp voor een bucketlist-lunch (op eigen kosten) in de hoogste pub van Afrika. Tijd om de berg af te rijden voor je rit terug naar Durban. REIS VISA - Reizigers moeten controleren of ze een reisvisum nodig hebben om Lesotho binnen te komen. Als u een visum nodig heeft, is het uw verantwoordelijkheid om het benodigde visum voorafgaand aan de tour te verkrijgen. Himeville is het kleine stadje aan de voet van de Sani Pass. Hier zullen we de lokale stallen bezoeken waar u enkele van de kraampjes kunt bezoeken en op uw 4x4-voertuig kunt springen om de ontmoedigende Sani-pas aan te pakken.
Dit is de meest epische en ontmoedigende bergpassen in Zuid-Afrika. Het is feitelijk geen mans land dat Zuid-Afrika verbindt met Lesotho, ook wel bekend als "The Mountain Kingdom". Je gids zal zich een weg langs de pas navigeren en stoppen op strategische plekken langs de weg waarmee je alles kunt opnemen. Verwacht adembenemende vergezichten en berglandschappen. Afhankelijk van het seizoen kan het terrein gaan van witte besneeuwde hellingen tot weelderige groene hellingen. Leer meer over de flora en fauna van je lokale gids, evenals inzichten in de geschiedenis en mensen van dit gebied.
Krijg je paspoort gestempeld en betreed de door land omgeven Lesotho. Je eerste stop is een klein dorp waar je een rondavel binnengaat en je lokale gastheer ontmoet. Ze laat je kort kennismaken met de Basotho-cultuur en deelt een aantal van de meest heerlijke traditionele broodjes met je. Als bier is bereid, krijgt u ook een kans om het te proeven. Snelle tip: het traditionele brood gaat fantastisch goed samen met de soep die wordt aangeboden in de pub die we hierna zullen bezoeken.
Welkom bij de hoogste pub in Afrika. Bucketlist - aankruisen! Lees de muren en geniet van het uitzicht. Dit is waar we zullen genieten van de lunch (reizigers eigen kosten). Proef het bier en laat het opwarmen als het winter is. Er is ook een WiFi-hotspot, dus zorg dat het telt.

Ophaallocaties en -tijden
Zorg ervoor dat je 15 minuten voor het ophalen klaarstaat in de lobby / receptie van je hotel of pension. Ophaaltijden kunnen enigszins variëren, afhankelijk van de ophaallocaties van andere gasten. Voor het ophalen van de luchthaven hebben we een welkomstbord met je naam erop en ontmoet je je gids bij aankomst.

Epic day with Kyran and Sia. Loved the scenic drive through the Sani pass and up into the Kingdom of Lesotho. It was an incredible day filled with fun and good memories.

It was very cold up there. For tall people the seats of the 4x4 are inconvenient. The landscspe is breathtaking. The guide Peter was very good we felt very comfortable with him
excellent from pre-trip communication to hotel pick-up and drop-off - David (driver to/from Underberg) was pleasant and Peter (driver to/from Lesotho) was very knowledgeable point out things of interest en-route - it was a long day but well worth it (especially if the weather is kind which was unfortunately not the case on the day we took the trip)

Apologies for the delay meant to get this to you sooner. The communication from the get go was amazing having attempted to do this tour in August of 2018 we were unable to make it to Lesotho so I said when in Durban for the rugby I would make an effort to make the tour. Quick Google led me to Wild Routes the website the feedback and all that's in between made me feel assured and comfortable on booking this trip. Not to go into too much detail but my experience with another company wasn't as pleasant and straight forward. My schedule was tight but with a bit of back and forth they managed to fit me in as a solo. The night before the trip I met someone who was eager to come along also, the staff were more than accommodating to organise the tour for my friend also. Very quick turnaround which impressed me more. An early start on the morning with a 6am departure Grant was our assigned driver to bring us to the collection point, conversation was not to a minimum we all found a common interest and he was very information and humorous along the route. The car was comfortable clean and a welcome addition of a blanket and a bottle of water (greatly needed following a heavy night after the game). Grant pulled out all the stops and made the journey more enjoyable to and from the drop off point. Onto the highlight which of course was the Sani Pass for me absolutely in awe of this place alot of changes since I was last there particularly no snow which in a way was a bonus along with our driver Mo. He made the journey incredibly informative giving us all information of the area along with wildlife while adding his quirky sense of humour to it. Commendation for his driving abilities as its no easy task going up the pass I was upset to hear of the future planning of it to be renovated to a smooth path, it takes away the complete charm I feel and of course will have a knock on effect for all things tourism. Hopefully that won't happen too soon ! We made it in great timing to the top of the pass taking in the amazing views along the way honestly I could do it every day just for the views alone . We then made it to Lesotho border, I'm an avid collector of coins and notes Mo went out of his way to make sure I got some and gifted me 20 Maloti for which I greatly appreciate it's not often people would offer such a gesture although small it meant alot ! The village tour gave great insight into how the Lesotho people live and the locals were very friendly giving us their insights and offering some bread. The bread well I could write a whole chapter on it but honestly the nicest bread I've ever tasted. Pity I didn't bring some jam or butter had I known! A quick look around the village then back to the highest pub in Africa. As an irish man I felt a duty had to be done on visiting this pub and was glad to have finally had a few beers there. An amazing little spot with some epic views over the pass. Mo again filling us with knowledge of everything in the area and was happy to share a non alcoholic beverage with him. Our day ended quicker than I hoped but that's the joys of quick travel . I can't recommend this company enough from start to finish I felt very welcome and taken care of. This tour has been amazing!!! The reasons are as follows: １、We were regularly contacted via email before the tour, so we could participate in the tour with peace of mind. 2. The guide was very kind and comfortable to proceed with the tour. We had the tour changed for our own reasons, and they were happy to accept our request. 3. In Lesotho, I had time to interact with the locals and understand the culture of Lesotho as well as the best views from Sanipas. In summary, the guide on the best tour was also the best guide I have ever met!! We recommend this tour to all visitors to Lesotho!!
It was an experience of a lifetime. Rode up these beautiful mountains in a 4x4 to experience the culture of the Lesotho people. It totally took my breath away. The ride up and down the mountain was scary but exhilarating. Definitely recommend!
Justin & Thabo are both professional and fantastic people.. From the time we met Thabo, we never had a dull moment with him. He is expcetionally knowledgeable and great sense of humor.
