Great way to see all the cool things in downtown Philly. Would maybe suggest expanding the route to include the waterfront area, which is really nice and will be getting better. Otherwise, the busses are comfortable, all the drivers and guides were excellent.
There was a lot of confusion due to the All Star game and we were detoured to a new pick up location. I was not notified by text until after the fact, which was frustrating. We were told pick up time was 9:30, it was closer to 10:30 before we boarded and began tour. The guide was okay but the driver didn't give us time to make pictures so I felt like we missed a lot we would have liked to see better.
Sit on the upper deck so you can see everything better….tour guide (Ariel) was very knowledgeable and told interesting trivia….Denise, the shuttle driver, went out of her way to assist us.
My family always takes the hop on hop tours the first day of all of our trips. It’s a wonderful overview. We had planned a tour of independence hall, Betsy Ross’s House and the liberty bell during the bus tour. We had our three day trip planned to the minute in order to see all that we wanted. We were messaged the morning of the tour that we wouldn’t be hitting the Independence Hall stop. It was due to the streets being closed off for the ball games. Understandable, however, we should have been notified sooner. We had to scramble and change everything last minute while riding on the tour. I’ve never had this happen. The tour company knew the streets would be closed before that morning. That was disappointing. However, the tour was great and the guide Nicky was awesome. He more than made up for the inconvenience.
I bought my tickets on line which meant I had about a 20 minute walk to get to a ticket office to exchange my voucher for tickets. The bus route is really good and the guides very informative, their knowledge very impressive. The negatives are the buses are not frequent enough and they stop by 5pm, too early.
It gives you the chance to go to the most iconic places and do what you want and get back on the bus.
Great way to get an overview of Philly. Our bus had a guide on a microphone, not one of those earplugs that have lousy sound, and it made the experience really enjoyable. Driving in PHILLY is a little scary - the streets can be very narrow - so we were able to sit back and relax and let the bus driver do the driving.
The tour guide rambled and talked about movies (we had not seen). He shamelessly and repeatedly promoted tipping himself and the driver (Miguel?). It was painful. We couldn’t wait for the end! This was our 3rd time doing the tour. We really like it previously. It is the dumb luck of the tour guide, I suppose.
With all the stops that the Double Decker Hop-On Hop-Off City Sightseeing Philadelphia does, it is a great way to see the city. There are many things to see and do in Philadelphia. We only had one day because of the heat. Wish we had more time, at least a couple of days. Highly recommend this for sightseeing.
Hop on hop off was very accommodating. We used it at an unusual being 4th of July weekend. One day, July 3rd, was canceled due to a 5 hour parade that would have blocked most of the route. On the 4th a few stops were still unavailable due to celebrations and the FIFA world cup crowd. The busses stopped as close as they were able and gave walking directions. Overall, we were very happy overall with our experience.
