Uw Steel City avontuur begint waar de stad zelf begon: Point State Park, op het puntje van de Gouden Driehoek, waar de Monongahela en Allegheny rivieren samenkomen om de Ohio te vormen. Van daaruit dwalen we door Downtown Pittsburgh, langs glazen wolkenkrabbers die naast eeuwenoude gevels oprijzen, het Culturele District in, ooit industrieel en nu levendig met theaters en galeries, onderweg het verhaal horend achter de Three Sisters bruggen. Honger begint snel. We beginnen met het beroemdste broodje van de stad, hoog opgestapeld met alles erop en eraan, en pierogies, de lokale favoriet. Later, een Griekse sampler uit een mediterrane plek met meer dan 45 jaar geschiedenis, ooit bekend om het voeden van pier werknemers en de Kennedy familie. We sluiten af met een duimafdruk koekje, een klassieke Pittsburgh traktatie en een echte must have voor de lokale bevolking, en onze Secret Dish, pas onthuld wanneer het landt op uw bord.

Point State Park is een staatspark in Pennsylvania, gelegen op 36 hectare in Downtown Pittsburgh, Allegheny County in de Amerikaanse staat Pennsylvania, aan de samenvloeiing van de rivieren Allegheny en Monongahela, die de Ohio River vormen.

Our guide Sarah met us at Fort Pitt along with several other guests where we set out on a walking food tour. Along the way we learned many cultural/historical facts, and Sarah was always friendly and engaging with all guests. We were able to sample a variety of classic foods such as pierogis with sausage, primanti bro sandwiches, Turkish appetizer sampler, and pizza all in a variety of settings, including indoor and outdoor. In addition you could choose to add on a beverage from the bar in many places if you would like. She kept our group engaged and entertained the whole time. As a family of 5 we had a fun time, and this experience added to our great first visit to the city of Pittsburgh.
