Great visit to Dover Castle- which actually looks like a proper castle!! Great information – will load out and really informative. Great views across the Channel on the top as well dashing enjoyable day out.
There's lots to see here and you need flat shoes! All the English Heritage staff were great and very welcoming.
Dover Castle was amazing, it was everything I expected and so much more. I would recommend it to everyone.
Dover Castle is the biggest castle in England so you would expect it to be busy - it was. But seeing as it was big, people were generally dispersed throughout the 85 acres of grounds. There are interactive exhibitions, viewing platforms and a wide range of stuff you can see. There are tours throughout the war tunnels but you don't have to pay extra for them which was great. Generally the visit was relaxed and enjoyable. There were no tour guides hustling you about or anything, and there were lots of nice picnic benches and cafés to enjoy a refreshment or a break. The grounds are really well maintained and a lot of it is open to view. The views from on top of the towers are amazing and everything has a fascinating history. It is great for school trips or families and anyone who enjoys castles or scenery. It takes maybe 2+ hours to do at least but the nice thing is that you can go at your own pace. I spent 4 hours at a fairly slow pace so as to fully experience everything I wanted to.
Entrance tickets only. Excellent castle to tour. Love Viator. Plan on about 4 hours to see everything.
There are many things to do and see on this 80 + acres. Best if you can spend at least 2-3 hours so you don't miss out on the fantastic history of this beautiful castle.
If you're visiting England you can't miss this amazing historical place. I loved it!
This is a monster. In a number of ways. OK. Across the Drawbridge area is the exact width of my car. Not too scary...(!) Plenty of parking at the top. Well done there, as the walk from the bottom would be something else. It is very hilly, but I assume that is obvious. They help with that in a few ways. But teeming with History & interesting exhibits. Lovely staff on reception, ask away. Nice little church. Go in the NAAFI canteen and grab some victuals (Vittals, is how I say it.) Hot and cold. The views are obviously bonkers... Great time, but my ancient legs ached a treat after.
Very rude staff with absolutly no respect. The castle was great but the staff threatening us ruined our experience.
Lovely, welcoming staff everywhere. Fab castle with lots to see. The WW2 tunnels were very interesting and incredible history to be where the evacuation of the soldiers at Dunkirk was planned. Amazing to see the oldest lighthouse in Great Britain and almost in the world. Excellent food at every cafe (especially NAAFI and an excellent flat white at the Walls cafe. We expected to be there a couple of hours but stayed over 6!
