Dong Ho Village met zijn beroemde schilderijen is een esthetisch symbool geworden in de cultuur van Vietnam. Dong Ho, dat zich aan de linkerkant van de rivier de Duong bevindt, stond eeuwenlang en maakte hun unieke kunstwerk. Van meer dan 100 families in de jaren 1950, zijn er momenteel slechts een handvol families die nog steeds het traditionele ambacht maken. Dong Ho-schilderijen zijn plaatsen voor kunstenaars om hun wensen voor geluk en hun perceptie van het dagelijks leven in het dorp weer te geven.

A really good trip, if you’re interested in art / craft / meeting artisans or just want a nice break an hour from Hanoi. We learned loads and bought some genuine art pieces from the makers at great prices
If you’re looking for off the beaten track experiences in Hanoi, Duc is the person to go with! I took his tour to the Dong Ho painting village where I got to try first-hand the making of a traditional Vietnamese craft, Dong Ho paintings, from one of its last remaining masters, an absolutely priceless experience. Duc is a brilliant curator of tours: the craft learning aside he got me to try authentic, traditional regional food in restaurants off the tourist circuit to get a real experience of Vietnam that is hard to find as a foreign visitor. A well informed guide, Duc is extremely pleasant, passionate and a fun person to travel around with, ensuring that you get the experience that you want and get the chance to have genuine, warm interactions with the local families he introduces you to. Would definitely reach out to Duc again the next time I’m in Hanoi!
