Bekijk de belangrijkste toeristische attractie van Chiang Mai in een ander licht wanneer je deelneemt aan deze Doi Suthep en Wat Umong-nachttour! Als je geen fan bent van wandelen op het heetst van de dag, kun je met deze nachttour Wat Phra That Doi Suthep verkennen terwijl je geniet van de koele avondbries. Na een korte wandeling word je beloond met een prachtig uitzicht over de stad en zie je ook de gouden beelden en tempels glinsteren onder het maanlicht! Deze tour omvat ook een stop bij Wat Umong, een 700 jaar oude boeddhistische tempel die bekend staat om zijn oude chedi's en tunnels met originele schilderijen uit de Lanna-dynastie. De tour bevat een Engelssprekende gids om je te helpen en je te voorzien van de geschiedenis van elke plaats die je gaat bezoeken. Na het ophalen bezoeken we Wat Umong. Deze tempel in het bos is compleet anders dan andere typische tempels, deze is gebouwd in een tunnel. Ga de tunnels van Wat Umong binnen en bekijk de indrukwekkende Boeddhabeelden. Het maakt niet uit welke religie je hebt. Wanneer je de tunnel binnengaat, fluistert het je de geheimen van deze wereld en de oude geschiedenis van deze tempel uit 1297 toe.
Stap opnieuw in de minibus en rijd over de glooiende heuvels rond Chiang Mai om de Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep te ervaren. Beklim vervolgens een trap van 306 treden die naar de Doi Suthep-tempel leidt. Deze trap die naar de site leidt, is versierd met het indrukwekkende lichaam van de mythische slang met drakenkop, of Naga, die zich een weg baant door 306 treden. Dit is absoluut de beste manier om de tempel te naderen, maar er is ook een kabelspoorweg als je minder stevig op je voeten staat. Als je de top bereikt, bewonder je de gouden pagode in Lanna-stijl bedekt met gegraveerde gouden platen, geflankeerd door vier decoratieve parasols en een fantastisch nachtelijk uitzicht op de stad vanaf de berg.

Just a cathartic evening of spirituality. Rising above Chiang Mai to witness the majestic grounds of this temple was amazing.
Nice small group and knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. Both sites also have lots of history and worth seeing up close. Would have been nice to watch the sunset from the viewing platform at the top of the steps but that aside, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

We had an absolutely wonderful time visiting both sites. We chose the evening tour and were not disappointed. The air-conditioned van ride, both Pick Up and Drop Off to and from hotel, was safe and comfortable. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, attentive, respectful and friendly. He was mindful of the range of ages and needs in his group, and provided support when needed. He took the time to highlight interesting historical references, meanings, and insights we would otherwise have missed. Doi Suthep was especially stunning, a feast for the eyes that left us speechless and in awe. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience

It is worth this night visit. In addition to seeing it illuminated, heat and crowds of tourists are avoided. The girl who made us the guide very good, gave us very interesting information. Then he gave us a very good restaurant recommendation for dinner and even took us there. Top!

Great experience. Our guide took the time to explain what Buddhism entails. He explained the story of the Buddha through the fresco that goes around the temple. It was really great. And the Doi Suthep at night plus the view of Chiang Mai is absolutely to do
