Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Centre: hier is meer dan alleen een toeristisch centrum. Het observatieterras op de bovenste verdieping met uitzicht op de stad Asakusa is een van de fantastische plekken. Het is de enige plek in Asakusa waar je de stad vanaf de bovenkant van het gebouw kunt zien.
Sensoji-tempel: Sensoji is de oudste tempel van Tokio met de grote rode lantaarns die het symbool van Asakusa zijn geworden. De prachtige rode gebouwen zijn de moeite waard om te bekijken en de tempel is een beroemde bezienswaardigheid die de meeste mensen bezoeken als ze naar Tokio komen. Op weg naar de hoofdtempel aan de Nakamise-straat vindt u een verscheidenheid aan winkels die souvenirs verkopen die alleen in Japan te vinden zijn. Het gebied is altijd druk met mensen, ongeacht het seizoen.
Asakusa-schrijn: Dit heiligdom staat bekend om een van de drie belangrijkste Japanse festivals in Tokio: Sanja Matsuri. Hoppy Street: de straat met veel restaurants, buitentafels en redelijk geprijsde drankjes. Er lopen veel toeristen over straat om van de sfeer te genieten. Veel locals komen hier om te genieten van een glaasje sake en een hapje.
Kappabashi Dogugai: Dit is een winkelgebied met veel speciaalzaken die messen, serviesgoed en ander keukengerei verkopen. Het is een populaire toeristenplek waar je professionele keukenmessen en voedselmonsters kunt krijgen, die steeds populairder worden in de Japanse cultuur. Je vindt hier hoogwaardige producten gemaakt door ambachtslieden en een geweldig souvenir!
GONPACHI: Dit is een handgemaakt soba-restaurant aan de voet van de Azumabashi-brug. De Sumida River en Sky Tree zijn zichtbaar vanuit de grote ramen in de winkel, waardoor het een perfecte locatie is om van het landschap van Asakusa te genieten. Er zijn ook glutenvrije opties beschikbaar.
Tokyo Sky Tree: Het is het hoogste gebouw in Japan met 634 meter, geopend in 2012 (en staat bekend als de hoogste toren ter wereld). Er zijn een winkelcentrum, een aquarium en kantoorgebouwen rond de toren. Deze tour neemt je mee naar de Sky Arena op de 4e verdieping voor een spectaculair uitzicht op de Sky Tree.
Tokyo Soramachi: Tokyo Solamachi is een commercieel complex grenzend aan Tokyo Skytree. Gebaseerd op het concept van de 'nieuwe binnenstadstijl', bestaat het uit vele elementen, zoals een winkelcentrum, entertainment, restaurants en culturele ervaringen. We had the most amazing meal in this restaurant.. the service was exceptional from Marijo! This business is so lucky to have members of the team like Marijo as he was so knowledgeable on places to visit and it was obvious that he really enjoyed his job and made our evening experience special and memorable! This restaurant is a must visit in Dubrovnik!
Yuki was a great guide, after some initial issues with the meeting point we had a lovely day. She arranged all the day around our likes & what we were not going to see later. We saw 2 shrines and a Temple and a famous shopping street for younger people. She also found us a really reasonable GF restaurant (sushi) which had lovely green tea at the table. We were delighted to have someone who knew the area and ordering system to guide us through- and she also gave us some extra hints and tips for using the underground system- which can be quite tricky to navigate at times.
Please specify subway station regarding meeting point. Our hotel directed our taxi to the train station when we gave them your meeting point address. Once we FINALLY connected - after much frustration, we had a good tour. We had also messaged you about getting tickets and what time for the Skytree tower. You never responded, so we purchased them for the end of the tour when they were supposed to have been part of our itinerary and purchased by our guide that morning. We did not find that out until we met with our guide. We have been on many Viator Tours, but this was the worst with regards to miscommunications.
Asakusa is definitely a Tokyo neighborhood that is worth seeing, but it will be very overwhelming without a guide. Our guide, Haruo, made everything perfect for our group of four adults. It was easy to find him at the subway station. He took us immediately to the Asakusa tourist building which has an observatory to get an aerial view of the the neighborhood. It would be important to meet him on time because he was able to get us up in the observatory before it got too crowded. After, we meandered through the crowded street of shops leading up to the Senso-ji Buddhist Temple. Haruo was patient with us as we stopped in a few shops. He explained some of the local culinary treats, some of the cultural items that were being sold in the shops and more. If there was something that you had a question about, he was happy to answer it. Haruo explained all the interesting facts about the Senso-ji, but most importantly, how to be there in a respectful manner and also explained the important rituals since this is an active Temple. He helped us to purchase pendants for protection and more. We then went to the Shinto Shrine and learned about the religious practices there. After, he took us into an enclosed street that had a variety of shops and games for people to try. We then headed to a part of town to see a street that sells culinary ware. I was looking for a Japanese knife, so we went into a few shops and eventually I purchased a nice one. We went for a wonderful soba noodle lunch overlooking the river and then headed to the Tokyo Skytree. Haruo offered to purchase our tickets in advance (WHICH IS A MUST DO! IT WILL SAVE YOU AN HOUR at least on a busy day!) and explained everything we were seeing. (Also - if you buy a knife, you'll need to lock it up in a locker before heading up the Skytree). Hauro also helped us find our subway platform since the Skytree mall is very large and busy. We had an amazing day and learned so much!

We had a great time with Hinako! She helped us find good shopping spots and recommended great places to eat. We saw a lot in 1 day and it really helped us find our way in Tokyo. The tour had a good itinerary. I enjoyed the mix of sights and visiting small streets with local shopping.
