We duiken in de rijke geschiedenis en levendige cultuur van de Gouden Eeuw van Leiden tijdens deze ±90 minuten durende gratis, tip-gebaseerde, wandeltocht. Verken de pittoreske grachten, majestueuze herenhuizen en verborgen binnenplaatsen terwijl je verhalen van de Pelgrims en de Nederlandse Meesters ontdekt. Je Gids leidt je door 12 + significante stops, waaronder de iconische Molen de Valk en de prachtige Hortus Botanicus, waar de tulpenmanie begon. Beginnend buiten de Molen de Valk, zullen we het hebben over de laatst overgebleven windmolen die de stadsmuren zou hebben gesierd. (we gaan niet het Museum in)

Begin 13e eeuw gebouw en voormalige gevangenis voor de stad Leiden. Vanaf dat moment werden doodvonnissen voltrokken op het plein voor het Gravensteen. In 1556 werd het Gravensteen uitgebreid met een cellenblok dat nog intact is. In 1598 kreeg de gevangenis een tuchthuis en in 1655 een spinnen- en raspenhuis. Ten slotte werd in 1672 een nieuwe vierschaar (de plaats waar het hof werd gehouden) gebouwd. Eind negentiende eeuw raakte het gebouw steeds meer in onbruik. De laatste doodstraf werd hier in 1856 voltrokken.
Een historische, sfeervolle straat in hartje Leiden, gelegen in het Pieterskwartier. Het staat bekend om zijn unieke, authentieke winkels, ateliers en horecagelegenheden, direct naast de beroemde Pieterskerk. De straat wordt gekenmerkt door oude gebouwen (gemiddeld bouwjaar 1735) en maakt deel uit van het sfeervolle, academische stadscentrum. Bekend om speciaalzaken en restaurants, zoals theehuis Moers, zilverwerkplaatsen en diverse boetiekjes.

We had a wonderful summer day in Leiden, enlightened by Jamie’s detailed stories and history of this beautiful Dutch city. It was a great walking tour, Jamie was very informative and fun!
Jamie gives an amazing tour with a lot of knowledge of the history and importance of Leiden. We booked just the evening before and were the only people on our tour, but Jaimie still took his time with us, took photos of us at picturesque points and gave us a lot of information. Highly recommend!
If you’re looking for something fun and interesting to do while visiting Leiden, I highly recommend taking a tour with Leiden walks! Jamie was a really great guide, super chill and very informative! I love booking tours like this because we get to see a ton of new areas without pricing ourselves out from the job. We happily tipped 50€ for this tour with our friends (three of us total) and it was probably worth more. We saw so many quiet corners of Leiden, and learned so much, but the time still flew. Jamie was a great great guide. Holly handled all the emails and info ahead of time and followed up with us afterwards with more recommendations. It was just a great experience for us.

We did this tour on our first day in the city and it was the perfect introduction to Leiden. Our guide knew the city inside and out and you could genuinely tell how much he loves it and his energy made it feel way more like exploring with a local than being on a tour. We ended up following basically all of his recommendations for food, drinks, and places to visit, and every single one landed. Honestly, the trip would not have been the same without it. We left actually understanding the city rather than just having walked through it. Highly recommend if you want a fun, genuine way to experience Leiden!

Our guide Jamie skillfully led us through +400 years of Leiden history on an informative and compact walking tour. He took us to all the important locations of interest and gave us concise information on a wide range of historical events and people that shaped Leiden. We had booked on a Group Walking Tour of Leiden but good luck was on our side; the other couple who had booked did not turn up so we ended up with a private tour with Jamie (who's originally from Puerto Rico but has moved to Leiden with his young family). The one and a half hours flew by with a very informative and entertaining walk and description of Leiden's past and current social scene; all extremely interesting. Leiden is an easy town love, dominated by beautiful architecture, interesting history and a complete sensory overload - bikes, coffee shops and people going about having fun in the sunshine. Jamie is full of joy interesting facts and dates and his love for the city is plain to see. We really enjoyed the tour and recommend it to anyone new to Leiden.
This was the first time visiting Leiden and what a beautiful city it is. We never would have had the opportunity to experience the everyday life that people who live there see everyday. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and patient with our constantly asking questions about everything around us.
