De Bosporusbrug is een van de twee bruggen die de Bosporus overspant en de Europese en Aziatische kant van Istanbul met elkaar verbindt. Het strekt zich uit van Ortakoy aan de Europese kant tot Beylerbeyi aan de Aziatische kant en wordt soms de Eerste Bosporusbrug genoemd.
betekent letterlijk "Maiden's Tower" in het Turks. De naam komt van een legende: de Byzantijnse keizer hoorde een profetie die hem vertelde dat zijn geliefde dochter op 18-jarige leeftijd zou sterven door een slang. Dus besloot hij haar in deze toren te plaatsen, gebouwd op een rots aan de Bosporus, geïsoleerd van het land, zodat geen slang haar kon doden.
De toren in Romaanse stijl werd in 1348 gebouwd als Christea Turris (Toren van Christus) tijdens een uitbreiding van de Genuese kolonie in Constantinopel. Galatatoren was het hoogste gebouw in Istanbul op 219,5 ft (66,9 m) toen het werd gebouwd in 1348.
Dolmabahçe Palace is een paleismuseum in Istanbul. Het paleis werd gebouwd in de 19e eeuw tijdens de periode van Sultan Abdulmecid. Na de oprichting van de Republiek werd het tot 1949 gebruikt als presidentiële residentie. Het paleis stond tot 1984 open voor diplomatieke bijeenkomsten toen het een museum werd.
Rumeli Castle (Rumeli Hisarı) is een Ottomaans fort dat dateert uit 1452. Het werd gebouwd door de Ottomaanse sultan Mehmed II (Mehmed de Veroveraar) ter voorbereiding van de verovering van Constantinopel. Het kasteel ligt aan de oever van de Bosporus op het smalste punt met ongeveer 660 meter.
Door sommigen beschreven als een miniatuur Dolmabahçepaleis, maar zonder de drukte, werd het Beylerbeyi Sarayı (Beylerbeyi-paleis) in opdracht van Sultan Abdülaziz gemaakt om als keizerlijke zomerresidentie te dienen. Met 24 kamers, 6 zalen en een hamam zou het een behoorlijk zomerhuis zijn geweest en werd het ook gebruikt om bezoekende hoogwaardigheidsbekleders te ontvangen.
Gezien vanaf de Bosporus-cruise, lijkt de kustlijn van de Bosporus aan de Europese kant op een reeks dorpen, elk met hun eigen karakter en attracties, en inderdaad, dat is precies wat het was. Gelegen tussen het nuchtere Beşiktaş en chichi Kuruçeşme, doet Ortakoy wat de naam doet vermoeden en positioneert het zich ergens in het midden (orta köy betekent 'middendorp' in het Turks).
Het fort van Rumeli Fortress, gelegen aan de Europese oever van de Bosporus en in de meest noordelijke wijk van Istanbul, is een opvallend monument.
Het paleis werd gebouwd in opdracht van Sultan Abd-ul-Mejid I (1823-1861), en ontworpen door de architecten Garabet Amira Balyan en zijn zoon Nigoğayos Balyan in de neobarokke stijl. Voltooid in 1857, nam de structuur de plaats in van een houten paleis met twee verdiepingen, gebouwd tijdens het bewind van Mahmud I (1696-1754) door zijn grootvizier Divittar Mehmed Pasha, vervolgens achtereenvolgens gebruikt door Selim III (1761-1808) en Mahmud II ( 1785-1839).

We weren’t expecting much when we booked this, but it ended up being one of our favourite evenings in Istanbul. Cruising along the Bosphorus at night was beautiful, the Turkish performances were entertaining, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Everything ran smoothly, and the whole experience was well worth it. We’d happily do it again.

If you are visiting Istanbul, don’t miss this Bosphorus dinner cruise. The hotel transfer was easy, especially after a long day of sightseeing. The views during the cruise were great,Dinner was enjoyable, and the entertainment kept getting better throughout the evening. We loved the folk dances, but the belly dance performance was definitely the highlight. The energy on the boat was amazing, and everyone was clapping and dancing by the end.Excellent service and very good value for money.

No communication from the provider throughout. Found out cruise was cancelled 10 mins before it was meant to start. Only because we contacted Viator customer care when our hotel pick up hadn’t happened. Told it was due to bad weather which was untrue. Probably undersold as it was out of season in January, understandable. However some notice of the cancellation would have meant that my Husband’s 60th birthday night celebration could have been rearranged to something else rather than ruined. Buyer beware!!!!
