Ga mee op een twee uur durende wandeltocht door de grootste Nederlandse stad aan de Noordzee! Ontdek waarom het de Stad van Vrede & Recht heet en waarom de regering zetelt in het Koninklijk Huis van Oranje van Nassau in plaats van in Amsterdam. Verken de historische binnenstad en leer het verschil tussen ‘Hagenaars’ en ‘Hagezen’. Van historische bezienswaardigheden tot kleine juweeltjes verborgen in het zicht: laat ons u verrassen tijdens uw volgende reis. Belangrijke bezienswaardigheden tijdens onze tour zijn onder meer het Mauritshuis, het Binnenhof, Koninklijk Paleis Noordeinde en zijn weelderige tuinen, en het standbeeld van de lokale legende 'Haagse Harry'. Ontmoetingspunt voor de rondleiding (we gaan het museum niet binnen) Onze tour begint en eindigt bij het Mauritshuis, een belangrijk historisch monument gebouwd voor graaf Johan Maurits. Het markeert de Nederlandse Gouden Eeuw en de museumzalen kunnen na de rondleiding worden bezocht om zowel de nieuwste tentoonstellingen als klassieke stukken van Rembrandt en Vermeer te zien.
Ontdek het verschil tussen Hagenaars en Hagenezen, waarnaar vaak wordt verwezen door de Haagse sleutelfiguur 'Haagse Harry' in de gelijknamige stripboeken. We stoppen voor een foto bij het iconische standbeeld van deze lokale held.
Treed in de voetsporen van de koninklijke familie voor het majestueuze Koninklijk Paleis Noordeinde, waar de Nederlandse koninklijke familie woont. Als je geluk hebt, zie je ze misschien vanaf hun balkon naar de menigte zwaaien.
Stap de prachtige tuinen van het Koninklijk Paleis binnen, waar de lokale bevolking samenkomt voor een wandeling of een picknick.
Loop door de binnenplaats van het Binnenhof, waar de Nederlandse regering het parlement zetelt. Leer meer over de dubbelzinnige oorsprong ervan, hoe het zich door de eeuwen heen heeft staande gehouden en zie hoe de parlementsleden op de fiets naar het kantoor rijden. De Ridderzaal is toegankelijk met een rondleiding, deze kan na de rondleiding gedaan worden.
Deze torenhoge kerk, gebouwd in de late middeleeuwen, is bijna overal in het stadscentrum te zien en is een architectonisch hoogstandje.
Verken het stadscentrum te voet en bereik plaatsen waar tourbussen en boten niet kunnen komen. Onze deskundige gidsen zijn gepassioneerde verhalenvertellers, die de ins en outs van de stad kennen en je vertellen hoe je deze kunt ervaren als een echte 'Hagenees'.

You can get this tour for free. It is a free tour, but Viator sells it. When we got there, there was a sign that said free tour.

Our guide, Joha, was incredibly nice and knowledgeable but we were expecting more walking, exploring, and details on the buildings, and architecture. We didn’t get too many steps in but he did relay the history of the area. The city in itself has a lot of cool old buildings with interesting history. We ended up looking up the history in some of these places on our own afterwards. Maybe Europeans don’t find such things as interesting because they are constantly surrounded by history, but being a North American I was expecting a little more.

We had a great tour with Maurits our guide who was very knowledgeable about the history but also had some local anecdotes with a great sense of humour, he looked after the group making sure everyone was ok and keeping up. The weather wasn't great but he had some spare umbrellas just in case. And there were many opportunities to take pictures! Make sure you have cash ready in case you want to tip, which the guide does not ask for or expect, but you will probably want to!
