Begin met de Grote Piramide van Khufu, de oudste en grootste van de drie piramiden, gebouwd rond 2580-2560 v.Chr. als farao's tombe gedurende 27 jaar. De oorspronkelijke hoogte bereikte 146,5 meter, waardoor het de hoogste door mensen gemaakte structuur voor meer dan 3.800 jaar was, hoewel nu licht geërodeerd tot 138,5 meter. Bezoek vervolgens de Piramide van Khafre, tweede in grootte en met de nabijgelegen Grote Sfinx, een mythische bewaker met een leeuwenlichaam en farao's hoofd, plus de Valleitempel voor een panoramisch uitzicht Op slechts 2 km van de piramides vindt u 's werelds grootste archeologische museum, met meer dan 100.000 artefacten verspreid over 12 galerijen uit de prehistorie tot de Grieks-Romeinse tijd. Hoogtepunten zijn onder andere Toetanchamons complete collectie van 5000 voorwerpen – gouden masker, strijdwagens, tronen – en de gereconstrueerde Khufu zonneboot, waaruit de kracht van de oude scheepsbouw blijkt. De Grote Trap verwelkomt bezoekers met kolossale beelden zoals Ramses II en Senusret III te midden van meeslepende tentoonstellingen over koningschap, samenleving en overtuigingen.

Excellent experience overall. Was very thorough with the visit, explained most of what we saw at the sites and their historical background. They also recommended various local spots to visit and see which helped greatly. We were mostly worried we wouldn’t be able to view everything due to the crowd around, but the trip was arranged perfectly that we managed to see all agreed upon locations with no trouble or rush.
