De Medici in Florence: een verhaal over geld, macht en roddels!
Beschrijving
Als je van het ene uiteinde van het stadscentrum naar het andere loopt, zullen we je gepassioneerd maken door de zeer privé-evenementen van een van de beroemdste families in de geschiedenis: de Medici. We zullen twee uur in de balans tussen roddel en waarheid doorbrengen, we zullen praten over beroemde en niet-herkende mensen, we zullen omgaan met het heilige en het profane. Van Piazza Santissima Annunziata tot Palazzo Pitti, er is geen tijd om je te vervelen! We passeren Palazzo Medici, de eerste adellijke residentie van de familie, en stoppen bij de kerk van San Lorenzo, gebouwd naar hun smaak en grootte. Aangekomen bij de kathedraal, zullen we de betrokkenheid van de familie ontdekken bij het creëren van wat nog steeds wordt beschouwd als een wonder van de Renaissance-architectuur: de koepel van Brunelleschi. Vanaf hier bereiken we het hart van de politieke macht van de stad, Palazzo Vecchio, en, door de oudste brug van Florence over te steken, komen we aan bij het steunpunt van de Medici-ambitie: Palazzo Pitti.

I thought they took my money but I found it. I want to remove that from my original review . I still think it doesn’t live up to a 5 star rating. Little service. No turn down. Bathroom tiny.

Federico was amazing in all of her knowledge about the tour. She walked us through all the important places and explained in detail how each building and history it portained to the Medici family. Answered questions and was patient.

The details you don't know and so much they say. As a family was able to gather so much power and also share it with their community.
Given a precipitously announced rail strike, need to change dates to the following day. Even though there were no tours covering the same content for the next dat, the representative at Viator found one for us: Antonio Bencista. He was stellar, providing detailed history of everything Medici. What's more, my wife and I were his sole students. In addition to providing us with precise background information about the Medici family, he encouraged and was able to answer any questions we dreamed up, about the Medici's, Florence, Italy or Italy's place & perspective at any point in world history. Outstanding. Of note, Viator did NOT charge us a penalty fee for the needed change in tour dates (unlike Crown Tours who slapped us with a 65 euro/pp fee for a date change necessitated by the same rail strike).

Our DAR Chapter went. There were 10 of us. We all love history. You can't beat the ticket price. The Director of Meadow Garden was our tour guide. She was so professional, knowledgeable and very sweet. So glad that we went. There are lots of good restaurants close by. There was plenty of free parking. They are open M-F but a group can schedule a tour on Saturday if needed. That is what we did.
