Dit door Kengo Kuma ontworpen toeristencentrum is niet alleen een waardevolle bron van informatie over bezienswaardigheden, maar een van de nieuwste bezienswaardigheden van Asakusa. Dit 8 verdiepingen tellende gebouw, ontworpen door een wereldberoemde Japanse architect, heeft een zeer opvallende structuur met het uiterlijk van een stapel afzonderlijke houten gebouwen die op elkaar gestapeld lijken onder verschillende hoeken. Vanaf het open terras Observation Deck op de 8e verdieping van het centrum hebben we een voorbeeld van de hele tour: niet alleen Tokyo Sky Tree en Asahi Flame die we net hebben gezien, maar de bezienswaardigheden die we gaan zien, waaronder Kaminarimon gate, Nakamise winkelstraat, Hozomon-poort, Sensoji-tempel en meer.
Bij het naderen van de Sensoji-tempel komen bezoekers eerst binnen via de Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate), de buitenste poort van de Sensoji-tempel en het symbool van Asakusa en de hele stad Tokio. Een winkelstraat van meer dan 200 meter, Nakamise genaamd, leidt van de buitenste poort naar de tweede poort van de tempel, de Hozomon. Naast typische Japanse souvenirs zoals yukata en vouwfans, worden langs de Nakamise verschillende traditionele lokale snacks uit het Asakusa-gebied verkocht. De winkelstraat heeft een geschiedenis van verschillende eeuwen.
Sensoji (浅 草 寺, Sensōji, ook bekend als Asakusa Kannon-tempel) is een boeddhistische tempel in Asakusa. Het is een van de meest kleurrijke en populaire tempels van Tokio. De legende zegt dat in het jaar 628 twee broers een standbeeld van Kannon, de godin van genade, uit de Sumida-rivier visten, en hoewel ze het standbeeld terug in de rivier zetten, keerde het altijd naar hen terug. Daarom werd Sensoji in de buurt gebouwd voor de godin van Kannon. De tempel werd voltooid in 645 en was daarmee de oudste tempel van Tokio.
Sumida Park ligt in de buurt van station Asakusa en langs de rivier de Sumida, waar u fantastische uitzichten zoals Tokyo Skytree kunt zien. Vooral zie je een prachtig landschap in het seizoen van kersenbloesems. Het park is open ruimte en het is erg leuk om rond te lopen. Het heeft landingsplaatsen voor populaire waterbussen die de Sumida-rivier en de Baai van Tokio verkennen. Het park maakt deel uit van Sumida River Terrace, een promenade langs de Sumida-rivier.
Shibuya Crossing nabij het Shibuya Station wordt doorkruist met maar liefst 500.000 mensen per dag, en tijdens een piektijd steken maar liefst 3.000 mensen over bij één groen licht! Voor Japanners die gewend zijn om dit uitzicht te zien is niets om over te verbazen, maar toeristen lijken zich te verbazen dat iedereen erin slaagt elkaar over te steken zonder tegen elkaar aan te botsen. Er gaan altijd mensen naar de plek om deze kruising te zien. Samen met Times Square in New York is Shibuya Crossing een van de "beroemdste overtochten ter wereld".
De ligging tussen twee van de grootste winkelstraten van Tokio, Harajuku en Shibuya, maakt het een ideale catwalk voor fantastische trendsetters van 20 en 30-iets. De halve mijl lange straat is bekleed met winkels, variërend van vintage winkels en lokale designer kleding tot luxe boetieks en high-end internationale merken.
Meiji Shrine (明治 神宮, Meiji Jingū) is een heiligdom gewijd aan de goddeloze geesten van keizer Meiji en zijn partner, keizerin Shoken. Het Meiji-heiligdom en het aangrenzende Yoyogi-park liggen net naast het drukke station Harajuku van de JR Yamanote-lijn en vormen een groot bosrijk gebied in de dichtbevolkte stad. Het ruime heiligdom biedt wandelpaden die ideaal zijn voor een ontspannen wandeling.
Omotesando is een glooiende, met bomen omzoomde boulevard in de modieuze wijk Aoyama in Tokio, die door delen van zowel de wijk Shibuya als de Minato loopt. Het Harajuku-gebied, waar Omotesando vaak als onderdeel van wordt beschouwd, heeft zijn eigen onderscheidende merk jeugdmode. Aan de andere kant richt Omotesando zich op het haute couture-einde van het spectrum, met veel plaatsen om achterover te leunen en te ontspannen met goed eten en drinken, en de geavanceerde architectuur te bewonderen die veel van de vestigingen hier typeert.

Yuki was fantastic. She communicated with us the day before the trip, and the company also reached out a few days in advance. She picked us up from our hotel, and we set off by train with two family members who had mobility challenges: one using a wheelchair and the other using a walker. Throughout the tour, Yuki regularly checked in to see how we were doing, when we wanted to eat, and whether we wanted to make any changes to the itinerary. She handled all of the train costs and took many photos that we were able to download later. We would recommend Yuki in a heartbeat.

We had a fantastic private tour in Tokyo. Our guide was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. He paid particular attention to our son with a disability and made sure that everyone could enjoy the day to the fullest. In a short time we have seen and learned a lot about both Japanese culture and daily life. This tour was without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommended!

Keita (K) was wonderful! He was very cognizant of making sure of my ability to travel and see all the locations. I was especially impressed with his working with trainsubway personnel for access. As a side note the train/subway system is amazing. Lunch was incredible. K provided great history and cultural throughout our time together. It wonderful having K make sure we had the best photo opps everywhere we went. K went over and above after seeing we had another tour scheduled in Osaka and contacted his counterpart to let them know what our particular interests are. It was our first time in Tokyo and our first time vacationing with a wheelchair and Masaharu Kai guided us through the must see attractions and subway stations with confident ease. Not only did we see some amazing places and stopped at culturally significant food stalls and tempura restaurant, but we left the day with all the information and confidence we need to continue exploring the city on our own for the remainder of our stay. Wonderful day out with a very kind, friendly, patient, and helpful guide. We managed to have really good tempura lunch at a local Japanese restaurant and see a lot of the famous sights. Also got to try the local trains! When we wanted to buy some good coffee, he was knowledgeable and brought us to a couple of great shops! Recommended for wheelchair users. The guide (Masaharu Kai) kindly offered to help push the wheelchair, even though it was outside his job scope to do so! Highly recommended.

This tour was a great way to travel around several must-see areas in Tokyo! Our tour guide Keita was incredibly kind and knowledgeable, and he made it easy for us to get around with a wheelchair-bound member of the family. Masaharu Kai is one of the best walking tour guides my husband and I have ever had—and we travel often! This was truly an outstanding experience. I have limited mobility, which usually makes standard walking tours difficult. Masaharu made everything easy and enjoyable. His extensive knowledge of Japan’s history and culture, combined with his attention to accessibility, made this tour exceptional. Every site we visited was wheelchair- or rollator walker-friendly, which is what Japan calls “barrier-free.” We moved at the perfect pace, navigated trains effortlessly, and Masaharu knew exactly where to find elevators and accessible routes at temples and shrines. I never felt rushed or excluded. Each stop was full of surprises, delicious food, and fascinating history. If you have limited mobility, I strongly recommend booking a tour with Masaharu Kai.
