Reizen naar DOQ Priorat vanuit Barcelona voelt als een echte wijnexpeditie waarin we plotseling onze realiteit verlaten om te duiken in een omgeving die geïsoleerd is van de tijd. Een parallelle werkelijkheid vol wijn. Het klinkt helemaal niet slecht!
Het landschap van El Priorat bestaat uit heuvelachtige Middellandse Zee hellingen, kronkelige wegen die pas zeer recent geplaveid zijn, en kleine verlaten dorpjes omringd met wijngaarden en vol kelders. Dankzij de visie van een groep wijnmakers aan het einde van de jaren 80 en het harde werk van veel vrouwen en mannen, produceert el Priorat tegenwoordig enkele van de meest prestigieuze wijnen ter wereld. Hun formule is die van de grootste: zeer oude wijnstokken, kleine producties, barre, droge weersomstandigheden en een bijna religieuze wijncultuur. De obsessie van de lokale producenten van deze regio heeft El Priorat getransformeerd. Wat was een economisch achtergebleven gebied? waar zorgeloos druiven in grote hoeveelheden worden verbouwd, is nu een wijnheiligdom. Hier gaan de producties zo laag dat wijnmakers vaak de druiven van één enkele wijngaard bottelen om een geweldige wijn te maken die op de meest interessante manieren verschilt van die van de volgende wijngaard.

Ophalen is inbegrepen bij hotels / privé accommodaties in het centrum van Barcelona. Pickups van de cruisehaven of de luchthaven zijn echter niet inbegrepen en zijn specifiek uitgesloten van deze service.

My husband and I booked two private wine tours from Barcelona with Castlexperience. Both tours were outstanding and worth the cost. The guides, Victor and Javi, were personable and very knowledgeable about wine. By the time the tours were over, we felt like they were our friends. We've traveled all over the world, and the lunches on the tours were some of the best we've ever had. We enjoyed learning about the local grapes as well as the process for making cava. The wineries we visited provided high quality samples with no pressure to buy, but we ended up buying a few bottles to take home and also shipped some bottles to the U.S. Thank you Castlexperience!

Discussing wine production with the Vintner while in the vineyard. Very knowledgeable. Really became aware of the complications of preparing wine... truly scientific and artful because conditions are different very year. The tasting was also very personal with the Vintner discussing the the taste of the wine as we ate different cheeses and bread. Been on many wine tours but i learned more on this tour than any others.

Our guide Pol was outstanding and the perfect host. Both wineries were hospitable, insightful, educational and fun. Dual winery was exceptional. We would highly recommend this as it was the highlight of our vacation. Not cheap but well worth the expense.

To make it short: Luis is a great gude, we got one of our best tours and felt always save and a bit like VIP. Organizational highlight was to get a timeslott for the black madonna ;) All stories told were interesting and all questions answered well, thx again, Luis!
