Van spionagegames tot geheime politie, van dappere ontsnappingen tot brute hardhandige acties, dit is niet je gemiddelde geschiedenisles - het is het echte, rauwe verhaal van een stad die ooit in tweeën werd gesplitst. We nemen je mee van de Brandenburger Tor naar het spookachtige Tranenpaleis, en verkennen belangrijke bezienswaardigheden die het leven achter (en buiten) het IJzeren Gordijn hebben gevormd. Sta bij het Berlijnse Muurmonument, waar verhalen over hoop, moed en liefdesverdriet nog steeds weerklinken. Deze wandeling begint bij de Brandenburger Tor en neemt je mee op verkenning door Oost-Berlijn om te laten zien hoe de voormalige Sovjet-sector van de stad de frontlinie van de Koude Oorlog werd.
Stop om te zien wat was de Sovjet (en is nu de Russische Federatie) ambassade - slechts een korte afstand van waar de Amerikaanse ambassade in Oost-Berlijn ooit stond.
Ontdek de huiveringwekkende wereld van de Stasi, de meest gevreesde inlichtingendienst van zijn tijd. Ze luisterden niet alleen telefoongesprekken af, ze verzamelden geuren, luisterden huizen af en hielden hele gezinnen in de gaten. Zou je in de gaten zijn gehouden?
Zie het Palace of Tears, dat vroeger het kruispunt was tussen Oost- en West-Berlijn. Uw deskundige gids zal u inzichtelijke informatie geven over hoe verschillende families plotseling werden verdeeld toen de Berlijnse muur in 1961 werd gebouwd.

We had an excellent tour with Marcel. He was so knowledgable and interesting. We went away feeling that we understood so much more about Berlin. Also it was good fun and we saw so much.
Additional cost/need for subway ticket not known ahead of time. Guide was terrific snd learned so much!
Our tour guide Cristobal was beyond words. So knowledgeable and passionate about history, that he made the entire experience enticing. Not only did he educate us on so many things, he extended his service about other recommendations when visiting Berlin, whether it be for educational purposes or just leisure. It’s people like him that are so perfect for the job!
Great walking tour. Two and a half hours would never be enough but the tour guide’s earnest efforts to give the proper context with respect to the history of Germany in general snd Berlin specifically greatly helped in understanding and appreciating the sites we visited. Our tour guide was Cristobal. He kept everything interesting and worthwhile. Highly recommended if you only have a limited time in Berlin.
Marcel was an excellent guide on the 2 hour Berlin tour. He delivered lots of historical information to a large group on a cold wet morning but kept everyone fully engaged. It was a good way to get our bearings and locate areas we could revisit later.
Marcel was our guide for this 2.5hr free walking tour of the Communist history of Berlin & the Wall. His historical information was great and he was a really engaging guide. Some of the group didn't turn up (why?) but it made the group smaller which was more enjoyable for us. We stopped at sights that we otherwise might not have seen. Starting at the Brandenburg Gate we walked past the Russian Embassy to the station at Friedrich Strasse and the palace of tears. We might never have known the history of the (ghost) stations and most certainly would not have stopped at the palace of tears but for Marcel. We perhaps spent a little too much time at the final stop at the Wall Memorial, but definitely would have missed the reconstruction of the wall as it was, without Marcel. We didn't know what to expect of a free walking tour but it was definitely one not to miss & were really happy to tip at the end. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and Marcel's tip on where to eat at Alexander Platz was excellent. We would definitely recommend to all.
